that is about right, Ford Dealers are trying to cash in on this 1000 production limit. I heard $120K would be about the price, now that is obviously related to supply and demand and availability. I remember a certain infammous Ford Dealer in the LA Area, who had painted an 05 GT the heritage colors and in July 05 was asking $279K for the car. Prices will come down but there are only 1000 of them so I suspect one would pay double. Look a the 08 Viper, probably a better car anyway.

considering the Corvette SS is expected to be trading hands for 225k.... it's any guess.

Still, Shelby is able to convert current GT500's to KR spec and name ;)

I'm just passing information along.

MSRP is going to be near 115-120k... Ceramic brakes are not definite yet.

Production will be limited to roughly 200 models

Much like the GT500's the price is up to the dealer you are talking to. The actual msrp has not been released yet and I have heard of deals anywhere from msrp to 50k over and more. Very few dealers have won a KR in the lottery at this point so I would think it would be hard to make a deal now unless it is made on speculation that the dealer will get one. That may be the best way to go if the dealer is willing to commit to a price and keeps their word upon actually getting one. If you absolutely have to get one, just wait and keep your checkbook ready. Many dealers post cars on stangsunleashed.com. Best of luck to you if you decide to purchase one. To be honest, if I had a GT, I could not care less about a KR. Maybe buy another GT????

A friend of mine has a 07' Z06 and is second on the list at a dealer to get the "blue devil". He did not pay over for the Z06 and I would highly doubt he would pay over for the new car. Anything is possible though.

Is the blue devil limited production or just another mass produced variant of the Z06. If so, its just another vette no matter how fast it is. Ho hum.

The KR is a different kettle of fish. I'm supposed to get one from a local dealer but I'm not sure I'll pay double list. I may pass.

No idea on what dealers will be asking for KR's.. Its the Corvette SS that is expected to reach 225 on the open market.

the BD is limited to about 200 examples.. is wider both front and rear then the Z06, full CF body, 2800 lbs, 650hp 6.2 S/C LS9... but will largely look like the Z06. I'm told front rubber is going to be 315's, while rears are 345's. GM are going after the KING of the RING title with the supersport.

Units will be scheduling during the initial months of KR production (Dec '07-Feb '08).

Just some of the 1000 units to be built. More will be allocated later. And just who is this "Rusty Wallace" guy?:confused

I have heard that the blue devil will be very limited. Certainly less than Gt500's but maybe more that KR's. I don't know for sure. It is rumored to be supercharged around 650 horsepower so I am sure the demand will be high as this will be for sure the most powerful Corvette ever. I have also seen rumors of the next generation car being mid engined simialar to the GT. Who knows.

As for the KR, the debate rages as to which will be more special, the KR or a GT500 Super Snake. If you already own a GT I would think you have no worries either way.

Just wanted to rant for a moment. I remember when the GT's were new and Ford was making tokens out of the low serial number cars. One of the Nascar clowns and I don't think it was Rusty, asked for the serial number that was the number of his car. The car was promptly listed for sale on Ebay by his dealership. Maybe it's not my place to say since I am not a GT owner, but this seemed a bit ridiculous.

Back to the subject at hand. Thanks.

Super Snake versus King of the Road

Gentlemen,

There will be 1000 King of the Roads built during the 2008 model year. There will be somewhere between 500 and 1500 Super Snakes built during that same time period. The KR may well become more common than the SS and it will have 60 less horsepower(minimum), smaller wheels and tires, and will lack some other high-grade components that will be included on the SS. As the cost of the SS conversion is $28,000 and Ford GT500's are now available at some dealerships (many more soon) at MSRP ($42,000), for a total of approximately $70,000, that's the most I think a prudent man would spend for a GT500KR. If you just have to have a KR, the last ones produced will be a whole lot cheaper than the first ones produced. Please feel free to shoot holes in my thinking here and tell me where I'm wrong. Perhaps I'm missing something. As for me, Muscle Motors Whipple conversion combined with Ford Racing suspension upgrades looks most attractive.

Chip, first Happy Thanksgiving.
The car is worth to you what your willing to pay for it.
As far as thinking these cars will be an investment, hell no, not with the numbers that they produced. What is my pet rock worth? :)
