I just came out of a procedure and cannot believe all the posts - Not a single post of a private party car for sale just a lot of folks who want me to use a dealer. Look, not to be kurt but I only want to buy a car from a private party - period. Unless one of you are paying for my car then please just leave the post as its stands and let me find a car

Thank you:wink

Dear Dr. Plastic...
You stumbled on to a unique car forum. Most of us are friends, we know each other, we come from all walks of life, we love the Ford GT. Most of the owners here want to buy another one. Your behavior on this forum is unacceptable. Now, you need to take a step backwards, and I am going to give you a two week vacation to get your house in order.
Perhaps you can adjust your ass-tude in that time. But you out of here for 14 days.
Consider it like having your operating room rights suspended. OK?
God Bless America and the fools that live here,

Hi Daniel,

I have been a part of this forum since purchasing my GT new. Have read posts almost on a daily basis and have enjoyed meeting many of the people on this forum including yourself. I am quite confused with your decision to ban PlasticMD from communicating on the forum. He has simply posted that he would like to purchase a GT and he would have probably joined this wonderful forum, as many GT owners do. He simply stated that he would like to purchase a original owner GT from a private party only. If you go back and read all the posts of this thread, carefully, I believe you will see a bit of a bias from forum members pushing the Dealers of the forum. I have recently decided to sell my GT and have chosen not to sell to one of the dealers, for my own reasons, but rather to a private party. We all have are own comfort zones when conducting business, and especially the purchase or sale of a high end automobile. Daniel, I think you may have misinterpreted this one and would hope that you will reconsider your decision and roll out the welcome mat for PlasticMD.

Thanks for your time, California GT

Plastic? Me? Oh shudder the thought. Bought mine from a dealer. Serviced a the dealer (except GTGuys specials). Maybe this guy belongs to the cast of Nip Tuck that didn't move to Califoonia.

Doc, as one of the dealers on this forum I can state without hesitation that I would be happy to help in your quest to find your new FGT. I receive calls from sellers with cars in the wrappers on a regular basis. To date I have had 100% satisfaction and sell vehicles sight unseen all over the world. The Forum is as states an Owners forum and we work extremely hard as owners and as business owners to meet the expectations of the forum, hence is why there are only to qualified and quality dealers on the site, and we both create a great buying experience. I have several FGT's in stock and also know of several for sale. I own two cars personally and once you have had the driving experience there is no turning back. As others have warned you make sure you know what you’re buying, whether it is an early production, tracked car, calls, or a car that might have a story. With that being said if I can be of any help with facts or cars you are looking at, no strings attached I would be happy to help as well.:banana

I agree with all the above input regarding Shelby and BJ Motors. I have had numerous converstations with both guys. As for wanting to buy purely from a private party....good luck. Most knowledgable owners are holding onto these cars. Trying to find the exact color you want, with the mileage you want, at the price you want will be quite difficult in the private sector although not necessarily impossible. I have tracked E-bay and Autotrader with a lot of false leads and dead ends. Also lots of "stories" associated with these cars. Now where was I....nurse please hand me that saw and mallet...the suction's not working!....

Hey guys ... far be it from me to try and be the voice of reason here but.

Even though Shelby and Bernie are great guys (bought a GT from Bernie and sold a Lotus through his shop) and do usually have a great selection of GT's with full research done.... and personally I would look at their inventory first BEFORE I went elsewhere ....

I personally believe that a guy has the right to spend his $150,000 - 215,000 any where he wants to and if he would like to set the criteria for his first purchase of a GT then fine ... thats his right. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what Plastic said to get a time out. :confused as reading his posts did not seem anything more than a clearing statement.

We just got through with a Rally ... and a lot of you got to go and hang out for a weekend or better. Great! Fine! Dandy! Some of us had to work (which I am still mad about :mad:mad) But still ... we are an OWNER's Group this guy wants to buy one ... he got a bunch of advise from guys he does not know basically demanding that he buys his car from either of the forum sponsors. How would that play to you if you walked in off the street?

And although there is a lot of truth about guys buying two and keeping them. There are a few of us that are fickle or shall I say have "shiny-thingee" syndrome and keep flipping through cars since we can't seem to make up our minds. Owning a GT is like having Hef say you have the run of the Mansion from which to pick your wife! How much of a lovely confusing choice would that be? Truth be told I love all the cars and if I could I would own one of each color combination / stripe combination. but just short of getting into the car business which my good friend Bernie advised me against (Thanks Bernie) that is just not going to happen anytime soon.

Now with that said .... let's remember Dave's first rule "Play Nice" and let's give the guy a chance to learn a bit about the rest of us crazed GT owners.

After two years or so of being here ... I still get freaked/ or whacked on the head from time to time.... finally I'm use to it .... :biggrin

Hey... El Moderator how about giving Plastic a pass and maybe a PM warning.

Well California, I detected an 'attitude' that I found very unwelcoming.
Maybe I am having a bad day, didn't think so, but I will sleep on it.

On another subject, there are ways to handle things, private messages, emails... etc. If the good doctor would like to send me one, I am open to an apology.

I notice you are one of the few members that are nonsupporting.
We are allowing you to sell for free on this board. My rule of thumb is to allow nonsupporting members to sell if they have 50 or more quality posts. I am sure you noticed that your for sale post was suspended till either I or Dave reviewed it, I released it. 100% of the funds go to DBK.
Thanks for your consideration.

Hello,
It would be much appreciated if you $upported the forum and became subscribed since you are using this medium to sell your car. You can't run an ad in the DuPont Registry or AUTOWEEK for free. Thanks for doing the right thing.
Cheers,
daniel

I lifted Plastic's two week vacation, only reason is I am in a very good mood today...
It has been a good week, and fond memories of the rally.

I second the opinions of ByeENZO and DPGT, but I hope the new spectator isn't thinking the rest of us are shilling for Shelby and Bernie, which I know I for one am not. I think what we are trying to convey to the good Dr., is that the chance for finding a private party car, this late in the game, without stories, headaches, etc., is going to be really remote. I too scoured the countryside, the Ebay listings, Autotrader, Autoweek, etc. but then I wanted a blue no-stripe car. I finally did find one at a private party-from this site! Tim had a blue car (as well as three others), but I looked at/called on so many other no stripe cars (principally black) that ALWAYS had some kind of issue, that I was really wondering if I would find any car I'd be happy with. Saying that, it seems to me that given how close everyone on this forum is (and obviously trying to keep their respective reputaions intact) with the aforementioned Bernie and Shelby, and that they are willing to talk at length on any Ford GT related issue without one having to shell out $$ to do so, I would think it is in one's best interest to look into what these fellows are offering and save the time and aggravation of chasing after cars that end up being something other than described. Again, I haven't bought anything from either fellow, but have talked extensively to both and they seem to have cars that have no excuses that are hard to find anywhere else.
Just my (inflation adjusted) $.02 worth.

Cool! Glad someone had a good week. I'd rather deposit my sensitive parts in a blender then live through this last week again. :ack

My only suggestion to PLASTICMD would be that, given his defined requirements, I would insist that the selling party purchase, or have purchased, a Ford "Certificate of Authenticity" which will show the car's manufacturing information. Since he is looking for a one owner pre-owned car, this would provide valuable information to him in the future, as well as certifying the build nature of the vehicle.

I dont think anyone was forcing ME or BERNIE on this guy...., They were simply stating that we are a good source IF he changes his mind and expands his search criteria. He has made it clear he wishes to buy from a PRIVATE SELLER and he has every right to do so. I think he may have taken a few friendly suggestions the wrong way and may have come across a little harsh with his response, but in all fairness the guy is entitled to buy the car in the matter which he pleases. I wish you the best of luck PlasticMD. If you do find a car from a private party and need someone to do a history check I am sure I can speak for BERNIE also in that either of us would be happy to supply any history we can dig up on any car you are looking at, free of charge and NO STINGS ATTACHED. Yes we are both dealers, but we are also OWNERS.

All the best of luck to you, and send me some free Breast job coupons. Never know when you are gonna need them :biggrin (tha last statement was just a joke. Dont :slap me! )

Hey Prowler, would you settle for a few free autopsies instead of procedures?
