Excellent advice Kirby.
Well after a little consideration a few things played out in my mind.

1. Looks
Not many cars have the presence of the GT.
The SLR doesn't look different enough from other mercedes. It looks too much like the sl and slk. It could easily be mistaken for a modified sl or a large slk. The GT is one of a kind look.

2.Performance
The exhaust on an SLR is supposedly outrages sounding. The gt sounds great and a few K can make it sound spectacular.
Acceleration #s and top speed similar. A feeling you get though in driving a car is not defined by the #s alone and the SLR does things without any drama apparently. So I would guess that in the experience of a drive in the car the GT wins

3. Usability
SLR wins as a daily driver. Automatic, truck etc. If Paris Hilton can drive one anyone can.

4. re-sale
I agree the Gt will probably win out in the end BUT it is still going to depreciate for now but much less than a the SLR

So I am concidering playing it our like this.
Keep the GT.
If I can get the SLR for around 200k Lease through a broker and Pay for NO depreciation in the lease payment and only pay the interest on the 200K. In 6-12 months sell the car and hope to make a few bucks.

OR

Go get the straight out headers for the GT. Much less risk and hassel.
