Anyone wanting a “Pre-Sebring” shake down may want to consider an event at Roebling Road in GA. November 10, 11th 12th. It's PCA Empire Region’s event. Usually “other marque” friendly. Driver’s are categorized by track experience and instructors are provided. (Novice groups fill up fast) Cost is in the $+/- $200 range for the week-end, about $100 more if you do Friday’s open track. as well. I’ll be running the GT and my 914-6. This is a very safe school at a great track which is being repaved at the moment, so it will be in good shape. They run about 20 cars at a time in five different run groups.

See http://www.cerpca.org/ (link appears to be down at the moment)
See http://www.trackschedule.com/ for other events too.

Gordon.

Gordon- Sounds like fun. Unfortunately I'm already scheduled to run at Homestead on the 11th and 12th. Please keep us informed of other events like this!

Bony- What kind of Cup car do you have coming?

Sebring is more than a track

For those who have not been here before Sebing has a lot more to offer than just the race track. We have some of the finest real eating joints in the South filled with cold beer and hot hooties, fried gator tail and the best steaks you have ever tasted.
If your the outdoor type we have over have 18 golf courses to many lakes to name ,filled with large mouth bass and a world quality life style. Plus we have 3 GT's in a county of less than 100,000. how's that for commitment.
So Come On Down And We Will Show You Left Coast City Folks How To Have A Real Redneck Howdy Do!!!! :cheers

how far is Sebring from Daytona? I'll be attending the 24 Hour, with my GT of course, as a member of Team Seattle. If I can re-arrange my schedule I'd like to do both events. PL510*Jeff

That would be very cool! :thumbsup I'm about 20 minutes from Daytona Beach & it takes me 1 1/2 hrs to get to Sebring, so I'd say about a 2 hr drive from Daytona (140 miles).

Time to get a head count! Who's in?

With our lovely wanna-be hurricane Ernesto keeping me company (aka tropical depression Ernesto), I've just wrapped up the final calls. :banana We will be utilizing the track expertise of Chin Motorsports to manage the event. For those of you who don't know them, they organize OVER 40 TRACK DAYS ANNUALLY at Sebring alone, not to mention numerous other track events at locations such as Road Atlanta & Homestead. They offer the best instructors around w/in driver instruction & a lot of 1-on-1, will save us about $6K on insurance & other costs because of the frequency they use the track, and with over 10 years of experience, they will tailor our event the way we want it & ensure that it goes off without a hitch! :thumbsup I encourage everyone to check out their website @ chinmotorsports.com.

KEY INFO ON THEIR WEB SITE:

1. "about CMS" has info on track time, instruction (from novice to experienced), & their background

2. "in car track video" of Sebring is great for getting an idea of what the track & each of the turns will look like

3. "tips & information" has a lot of VERY IMPORTANT info on helmets (I recommend you bring your own, but they will rent), attire, how to prepare your car (IMPORTANT!!!), tire info, what "extras" you should bring, what the different flags represent, a direct link to Sebring Int'l Raceway's site for specific track info, & RULES (safety is stressed & the rules will be enforced!)

The event is 1/15/07 & will begin with registration & a mandatory driver's mtg. Drivers will be grouped according to experience. Experienced drivers should expect > 5 hrs of track time & novice > 4 hrs. A casual lunch will be provided & there will be an indoor room reserved for us on the track that's available all day. Both racing fuel & premium unleaded will be available at the track.

I am working on getting a professional photographer who can set up video in your car & take pix of you on the track. This will be for an additional cost, which I will let you know down the road. We will also have a group photo shoot w/all the cars & drivers, so make sure to bring your cameras!!! :cheers

Since this will be a private event EXCLUSIVELY for the Ford GT Owners, there will be a special area PASSWORD PROTECTED for us to go & register. They will set up the Ford GT Owners section next week once I give him the price (see below). I'll give you the password when it's ready, so you can go to register.

There is PLENTY OF ROOM FOR EVERYONE! You are encouraged to bring your GT, but for those of you who wish to track a non-GT, there will be NO PROBLEM. Any car (other than Bony's Abrams tank) :wink will be allowed on the track.

PRICE/PP BASED ON # OF DRIVERS (total cost = $17,000):

10 drivers $1700/pp
15 drivers $1135/pp
20 drivers $850/pp
25 drivers $680/pp
30 drivers $570/pp
35 drivers $490/pp

*If you bring a passenger, please add an additional $150 (to cover costs such as insurance & lunch). Rules for riding with a passenger can be found on the web site.

TO DETERMINE THE PRICE, PLEASE POST THAT YOU WILL BE ATTENDING. BY MONDAY, I WILL ADD UP THE # OF PEOPLE WHO SAID THEY WANT TO GO & I'LL DIVIDE THAT # BY $16,000 to come up w/the registration price.

**EVEN IF YOU HAVE SENT A POST OR E-MAIL EARLIER, PLEASE RE-POST THAT YOU ARE IN & INDICATE WHETHER OR NOT YOU WANT A HOTEL ROOM!

***IMPORTANT!!! The Chateau Elan is the luxury hotel & spa located on the track. Because of the Sebring Aviation Expo going on that weekend, there are only 15 rooms available (at about $125/night). I can reserve all of these rooms if I know we will be using them. WHEN YOU POST, PLEASE INDICATE WHETHER OR NOT YOU WOULD LIKE A HOTEL ROOM & THE DATES. There are other nice hotels in the area as well, but they will be filling up as well. If you want them, we'll need to reserve them ASAP!

Once registration opens, ANYONE can register! Extra money from additional registrants will go toward: tipping the event coordinator & instructors at the end, any extras we may want (such as making t-shirts or a banner, raffling things off, etc), & the rest will be REFUNDED BACK TO YOU, with a higher percentage going to those who post between now & Monday.

With the help of jimfro & some of the locals, we will plan some fun events for the ENTIRE WEEKEND (track day is on Monday). There's so much to do & see in FL!!! For those of you who don't want to track your GT, you're invited to come out & spend Sat & Sun hanging out & joining in the weekend activities with all the other GT owners. :party :club

I'm looking forward to seeing you all in sunny FL!! :banana :biggrin :banana

Tropical depression...

Piccola,

A "tropical depression" is when you run out of Margarita mix!!!

Wish I could attend - but will just be returning from Delbert McClinton's Blues Cruise that Saturday.

accolades on doing your homework... I haven't hit their web site, what cars if any are they able to rent out. It is a long tow from California, at least $3500 if I can't get someone to share the rig.... Any storage space at JIMFRO's hangar for a car that could be dropped off before the event and then picked up afterwards? I am anxious to see who all will sign up...

MJ-

I am in, also would want a hotel room.

I have run with Chin Motorsports before. They are a class outfit and put on a first class event.

Bony, I have room for your car in Lantana if you need the space, JIMFRO is closer though. It is about a two hour drive to Sebring from my hanger.

Also, I am in touch with The GT Guys and if we have enough people interested they may be willing to come down and mod some of our cars before/after the event. Of course it is not too hard to get people from Michigan to visit Florida in the dead of winter.

-Chris
