Ok Guys,

Now we are facing an interesting situation. We now have enough people expressing a commitment to the School to more than completely fill all eight positions for both days. Here is what I show:

1. Skyrex 1 day The Big Track
2. GTED 1 day Streets & Skid Pad
3. Superfly 2 dayX3 Three cars both days
4. BONY 1 day Big Track
5. GT4JR 2 day
6. powergt 2 day
7. FGT1987 2 day
8. JimF 1 day Streets & Skid Pad
9. ATM empty 1 day Streets & Skid Pad
10. 06fordgt Interest expressed
11. BlackICE Interest expressed

So, at this point it will be who gets their deposit in first to nab the available positions. With Superfly and friends taking up three positions each day, GT4JR, powergt and FGT1987 all taking 2 day courses that leaves only two positons available each day. Skyrex has already sent his deposit and he is local so I'll probably get his first. Now we are down to one position on the big track which BONY would like and two positions on the Streets track with three drivers looking to fill those two spots and two other drivers having expressed interest in the School. If you are serious, please e-mail me at TallCarGuy@aol.com and we'll get this thing locked in.

Well Guys,

The deposits are coming in. It appears that we will have to consider students on a first come, first served basis. The limit is eight students for each day. I currently have deposits for four students for the two day school and two students each for the Streets & Skid Pad course and the Big Track. That's six each day already with just two positions open each day to fill the School.

Well there you go,

If all those that have told me they sent their checks actually did, that leaves one opening each day. If powergt has sent his deposit in, that will fill us up.

Ok Folks,

The March 9-10th, 2009 GT School is SOLD OUT!

We actually got more deposits than we could take. So, if there are others out there that would like to join our GT School I will start making arrangements for the NEXT GT School. The date will be determined by the prospective students. It will be another two day School as that seems to be a very useful arrangement. Six of the current students are signed up for both days.

All those interested please let me know.

Below is a repost of some single event insurance information that I found on another thread. I found it very useful so I wanted to share it with my future GT school mates. :cheers

Okay, I checked out the site that offers single event coverage because that was the most relevant to me. I don't see myself becoming a track regular. They have a quick quote system on their site. You put in an agreed upon value, I put in 175K and the quote was $1021.

Now the interesting thing is the premium only goes up $30 per every $5K in agreed upon value..so 180K is $1051 and so on. The kicker is the rate is the same for a 2 or 3 day school as it is for a one day school. So the two day GT school particpants would be at the same rate as I would for a one day. They figure the premium on the event, not the number of days of the event.

Even more interesting is if you agree on the value at 100K, say to cover you for a bad but not totaling experience the price is $588...almost half. Now with the going price for a repairable salvage going anywhere from 60-95K it would be interesting to see if they let you keep the car on a "total" payout as the amount of the payout plus the amount you could sell the car for would equal your loss.

A lot to think about. Nothing is ever simple. :biggrin

Thanks again to jaxgt for finding this info. I never would have considered looking for this. Now I have to consider buying it.

Here is the link to the only one that does single event coverage. http://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/Default.aspx?cID=38

I added this site to my favorites. You never know.....:wink

Not trying to freak anyone out...just trying to share info. I honestly did not know that this type of insurance was available and I was just going to take my chances because I am very confident as to how professional and safely the school will be run, but it seem like a reasonable rate to pay for added piece of mind. :cheers

Why don't you check your own insurance? Most will cover you because this represents a driving school and is not a competitive event, especially if you have an instructor in the car with you.

Edit: I read the jax post after reading this. Very interesting. I talked to my agent before I started any of this and he said I was covered. Guess I'll have to re-read my policy on the GT.
