"As a platform model, this car does not contain an engine, drivetrain or interior."

Too bad. :frown Still cool to have in a collection.

What good is it if you can’t drive it?
I already have a wife I can only look at and can’t use!

Does anyone know if it could be fitted with a drive train?

The perfect car for EP!

Are the wheels and tires real? Would be nice on the GT.

I don't see why not. Designers (i.e., Chip Foose) all over SoCal fabricate new vehicles. I would assume all you need to do is petition for one of 500 titles allotted per year - http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/tocd3c1a8_3.htm

Sam,
The car made an appearance at C&C and was driven around in the parking lot. I was able to pull my Heritage next to it. As you can see, it'd show very nicely next to YOUR Heritage and you have the garage space for it.

Is that the same GR1?

I don't think so. The first one, the one listed on the auction was not polished. It is painted with stripes.

It must be different because the shiney one was here in Florida at Mullinax Ford and it drove onto the showroom floor.

The polished one drove that was at Rally III, Ford brought it to LVMS, and then also to the closing dinner.

I recall the shiny one from Las Vegas and posing next to it at the dinner. I recall thinking what a beautiful car, but think finger prints would drive you nuts!

From Autoblog:

"Unfortunately, the car is not a running example, unlike the polished aluminum version that debuted at the Detroit Auto Show a few months later.

Its time to build it before CAFE gets too tight to allow it. This is the most beautiful car ever. The V10 has so much potential. I think it was 605 hp all motor.

Saw them rolling the GR-1 out to the preview this morning. Their method of steering was kicking the front tires.

Does anyone know where the polished driving one is today? Think that one will ever be auctioned off?

I would assume in a ford warehouse somewhere.....

I believe the polished one was sold to someone in the middle east. I remember seeing photos of it on a pallet heading to it's new owner. Or it is possible I am getting old and senile!

Man talk about KICKING TIRES! I would love to have it in my collection, even without any running gear. It's going to bring a ton of money.
