Does anyone know anything about these floating rotors for our cars??

http://www.girodisc.com/Rotors_c_345.html

Look similar to the FR product with floating hats. Price is a little cheaper.

They look good to me .Do you need to replace hubs too?

They have the prices listed for replacement rotors with new hardware without the hubs.

Metallurgy is key. Unless you have experience with the vendor/product, it might be best to let someone else enjoy the learning curve.

These are high quality...had them on my Viper ACR; they make them for several exotics. Made in USA.

I currently have a set installed. They are direct replacement parts with no additional changes necessary. They are also left and right side specific so the vanes and slots face the correct direction on both sides unlike the stock rotors.

For tracking, they are great - but remember -

Brakes only slow you down - :thumbsup

Sort of, the BIG difference is slotted vs drilled rotors.

Glad someone has them, and no fitment issues. Have you tracked at all? Yes, the slots are directional.

No track time on these rotors.

There's a guy in Calgary that has these on his track GT. I'll see if I can get in touch with him tomorrow to get his thoughts. I do recall that the discs are somewhat lighter than stock freeing up some additional unsprung weight.

Yes indeed they are lighter, and loosing upsrung weight is the goal, as well as not having to get new rotors after every rally. Let me know if you get any feedback.

Thanks all!

For God sakes man, is unsprung weight is your primary goal, just get a set of these:

Note that they are priced PER PAIR, so the price is more reasonable than I first thought. However, the price for stock rotors is in the mid-$200 range, so these are still way more expensive. I don't buy the "directional vanes" feature--many impeller pumps are straight vanes, and the curved ones make only a marginal difference. The Ford ones have straight vanes, and they work quite well. I'll wait until I see a reprot from someone who has raced with them and compared back and forth with the stock ones before I part with 2-3 times the $$$.

I have talked my self into trying these, Rally 9 will be likely the track test.

And Rex, will be interesting to follow the evolution of those.... Makes a lot of sense if the ride and durability gets worked out.

MTV8, Specracer....

How about some 'used' pics of the girodisc rotors, please?

I'm about to pull the trigger on these. I must confess it is largely a vanity affair as my car doesn't see a lot of track time. I have previously taken my stock rotors off and re-finished the painted areas due to rust, but it has returned. :bored

With the open wheel it is an eyesore IMO. Are you happy with their appearance after some use?

Thanks! :thumbsup

Have you tried coating the inside vane area of your disks with Loctite EXTEND Rust Neutralizer? It turns light rust into a black oxide and may make your unpleasing rust go away. You'd have to mask off the contact area of your disks so only the inside vanes get sprayed. I use it all the time and it works great.

Cant say I can help you. I have not driven my car since the rally. Only washed it. This is what they look like after they have some heat in em.... Yes those are "gray" painted calipers. Heat has changed them a bit.....

Thanks!

I read your other post about the chameleon calipers at NOLA. That is just nutz.

Will have to look into that, never occurred to me. Definitely would be less $$$.
Thanks!
