gen 1 whipple wear

Just pulled the front snout of my whipple and found this unusual wear to the drive coupling,it has done 3000 race miles

Look like some new parts are in order.

If I ever take my Whipple off I will be sure to examine this area for cracks. The center of the shaft also appears to have cracks, or is that just how it looks in the photo?

no it is not the shaft but a sold peice of plastic, the shaft is fine,

I wonder if the couple is made of plastic as a sacrificial piece in the event something binds up. I think the OEM blower has a rubber coupler.

I would say more for dampening the drive if there is a slight missalignment and also if the engine stalls it would take the shock,
and take the shock loading when changing gears etc

It is for dampening and is the same as on the OEM supercharger.

In 3000 miles this seems extreme however it would be considered IMO a consumable.

The whipple is 5 mm wider than the OEM one:frown
whipple is on the left OEM is on right
I would agree it is a consumable, I think I will get a couple.
