And think about a roll-up door at the entry, to not lose any of your ceiling to the garage door.

Oh, dear God, "ditto" regarding what RALPHIE said. I had to change my std door-and-track setup for a 'roll up door' for just the reason RALPHIE mentioned.

Building a new garage and want to install some 4 post lifts. I believe I need 12 ft. of ceiling height to do this, and wanted to confirm that this is correct. Thanks.

My ceilings are 9'6" and I get cars on 2 lifts with no problems

14 feet is best. Of course you can have lower depending on what cars you are storing. 2 GTs even 9 feet works. But not comfortable. Also go side mount with the door operators for the best clearance.

Yup, Chamberlin (Liftmaster 3800 or 8500) jackshaft DC motors is the only way to go! And FWIW, i have 12 feet, but the doors run only inches from the ceiling. Plenty of room with 12' ceilings! On a build from scratch though, I'd go 14'.
