Planning a trip o the Hungaroring F1 circuit in Hungary for a track day and wondered what the fuel range is as I don't want to hold everyone up on route for fuel fill stopages.

Many Thanks

For easy highway and autobahn driving, you should get at least 8 km/liter (20 miles/US gallon). The tank holds 17.5 US gallons with a reserve light that comes on at about 2 gallons remaining, which should give you a range of about 500 kilometers (300 miles) when the light comes on.

At Rally III in Death Valley, I was getting about 100 miles out of a tank. Which took about 45 minutes to drain. You do the math! :biggrin

(But yes...in normal driving, I agree with Ralphie)

That would be an interesting experiment, EP...as to whether one could drain the tank quicker in 4th and 5th or in 2nd and third....

My bet is on the former.

I reckon about 250 miles until you get nervous about finding gas.

That's gentle driving rather than spanking it!

Justification of Numbers Presented

To my last fillup date, I have put 25,048 miles on my gal which include a small amount of track time, probably about 5-10% city (stop and go traffic), and the rest on open roads - but many of those open roads are very windy mountain passes or scenic highways (such as California State Route 1 - San Luis Obispo to San Rafael), in 2nd and 3rd gears.

In that time, I have used 1,209.777 gallons of fuel, mostly 91 octane with some ethanol mix when crossing the country.

The worst fuel milage I have gotten was 10.591 mpg between fillups of 110 octane leaded fuel at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. The best was 25.690 mpg between Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Sidney, Nebraska.

My average fuel consumption for all the miles is 20.705 miles per gallon.

I've heard that 83.482 % of all gas mileage statistics are bogus! :rofl

I only checked the mileage on #1079 once. 'Was on a "highway only" run from "x" to "y" and back. 'Got 24.5 mpg...'constant 70 mph except for two places where the local LOONS thought it was just fine to use I-5 as their own private parking lot... :bored

You can run leaded fuel if you don't mind killing your cats and O2 sensors. Some TT guys run leaded C16 all the time and just have to replace O2 sensors more often, or run open loop. They don't have cats.

.

I have the FRPP M-9430-GTX Rear Exit Headers (no Cats). Thus, the use of leaded fuels is not harmful to the exhaust system.

I've been through that town (Tooele) many of times - on the way to Dugway Proving Grounds. There was a House off the main HWY with 100's of muscle cars. The rumor had it that it was the owner's years of acquisitions. Sadly, all were weathering under the open Utah Skies.

Thanks Chaps.....very useful

I need to check what kinda mileage/range the other guys in our group will enjoy before I decide whether I will resign myself to being unpopular or not.
