Does anybody make an aftermarket fuel cell for these cars?

Where you going to put it? Certainly no one makes a type to replace our ship in a bottle tank. Seems like you've run out of space wih the NOS and everything else.

Well I want to switch to a circulating system that uses one pump with a pressure valve. The current is just designed for such specific use that it is difficult to adapt it to new ideas.

Rather than an alternate tank why not modify that which in your gal? IMO the placement of the OEM tank is well suited for the location of the weight and safety.

I may use the OEM tank, I just wanted to look at all of my options. If someone has already tackled this project please let me know.

Why not contact Matech and find out what they used in the GT3 cars - which were closer to ours than the GT1's. They might have the perfect solution for you, except for the fuel input pipe. I would give them a try. Make sure you check on their capitities though, as most of their cars are set up to onlly run for an hour or two.

I would send a PM to Stephan (Matech GT1) asking for this information, and he could guide you to the appropriate person. It's probably the driver, Thomas Mutsch, who is also in charge of the facility at Mayen where the cars are retrofitted, repaired, and prepared.

Okay next question... Mechanical fuel pumps, what's the word on them? It looks like a quite, reliable, high volume option. Are there any downsides?

I didn't know that high pressure mechanical pumps are available. Where do you plan on mounting one?

I'll be surprised if Hoffman use electric pumps on his beast. My current plan (and I am early in the planning phase) is to run it off the oil pump drive shaft with a small electric pump to prime the system. I should have a plan mapped out by next week. I'll take lots of pictures along the way.

With the gas that car needs to flow, even if you have electric pumps that could do the job, the alternator probably couldn't keep up and the car would be running under battery power and voltage.

Check the web sites for Hilborn, Rons and Kinsler - they still make mechanical pumps (pulley driven) or direct (such as off the cam or distributor drive on a pushrod V8). Sprint cars still use them. Crower also made some years ago, but I would opt for a new one if considering it for the GT.
