Finally, took care of this at local Sherrifs Dept; didnt even come out to look at it; just stamped it.
For those who need a quick fix and dont want to order the tow hook adapater.
-Take your plate and put clear packing tape on top & bottom edges
-Standard Plate is 6" height; the front gill opening is a bit less.
-You can position it so lower edge rests on bottom of black grill and top is resting against two screw-heads; will be offset to one side.
-Use 8" zip ties (HomeDepot has black in Electrical aisle; $3.50); position so thru plate-holes, horizontal, and wrap around vertical grill bars.
-Move lock-tabs to edge or rear and cut off excess.
-With Black zip ties; it looks not terrible.
-Reduced airflow; Im usaully at 16--180F and this was at 180-200F; with a/c fans
-Plate was cool to touch after 2hr, 100mi. drive; so safe to leave on.
-Long term, tape or edge will probably wear on grill frame paint...
For $3.50 not a bad fix out of a $150 ticket
