front license plate

I was going for the magical 200, but it was raining and I ran out of nerve....

Another day maybe. :wink

198 in the rain! In my book that is extreme nerve!

is the car still on rails at 200mph?
what about wind and other noise
what about vibrations?

I've not reached 200 yet, but others here have.

Certainly at sustained 185/195 speeds it's very stable, no lift generated, felt squat and I didn't notice any vibrations. Kicks up quite a spray too! :biggrin

It felt tighter than the Murcielago at this speed.

ive hit about 215 indicated and it felt fine

Ohio is a "front plate" state. I have more than 24 cars, none have front plates. (Been this way for 10 years). I've never been stopped or hassled. Don't ruin your car with a front plate!!!

Hawaii has been for many decades as well. I don't own anywhere near this number of cars to cause me not to know exactly how many I have. However, like my idol, Tim, I've never run a front plate and have been stopped only a couple times.

My front plate is hanging up in my garage!

I've been stopped in my GT with no front plate & haven't rec'd a ticket yet. Well, at least no ticket for the lack of a front plate!

Guys, This is real!

Texas is a front tag state also and a few years ago my wife was driving one of my cars (not a really cool car, but had no front tag) and was stopped by a DPS trooper. Now she has been asked to appear in court years ago as a habitual criminal. She had 7 speeding tickets in 2 years and the judge warned her one more ticket and she lost her liscense!! She has her own business and is a first class salesperson. When stopped by the DPS trooper she knew she wasn't speeding and was miffed at why he stopped her. He informed her that she had no front tag and that it was required in Texas. She, being the sales person she is immediately improvised. Here is exactly what she told the officer. "Yes sir I did know that! When I get home I am going to tell my husband to get a hammer and some nails and put it on!":willy The officer with a straight face told her "Maam, when you get home please have your husband attach the front plate, and Maam, if he uses a hammer and nail, Get a new husband.":rofl:rofl He smiled and walked off and it's been a great story ever since.

May not work for us, but went pretty well then.

Half the plates.....twice the cost.

Gentlemen,

Arizona only requires one license plate but they compensate by charging twice as much for annual registration as any other state. :thumbsdow

Chip

WA requires the front plate (go to cars and coffee seattle) Made a bracket for all three. No drilling required! Mount a little low so the plate scrapes before the dam. Jim:thumbsup

'Front plate required EXCEPT for: motorcycles, quads, cars with "trip permits", certain "classic" cars, farm vehicles, and car dealer's rigs.

How that squares with the "equal protection clause" I have NO idea... :bored

Does anybody happen to have a pic of a car w/ the factory front plate bracket mounted? Everybody got one w/ the car, but has anyone had the nerve to install it?

I got this, and only put it on when I go to get a sticker:

Thanks, I've seen those, but I'd like to see what the factory one looks like mounted.

I think some of the English guys used them - check their posts. "Neilda" comes to mind.
