Forget all other tire options - these just made my day.

I've got about 600 miles on my Bridgestone Potenza Scuderia's.. Rear only. They are softer and quieter but I wouldn't say they are that much grippier in straight line acceleration. The still spin easily in first gear..

I can not say what they are like on the road course. I was hoping they would provide more grip under heavy acceleration in first gear so I was a little disappointed.. I have a pulley and tune I am running them on the stock rims. I'm not sure if the stock set up takes full advantage of the extra tire width. When I look at the dirty contact patch area of the tire there seems to be a large area on the outside edge that is not in contact with the road . Maybe a camber adjustment would help ??

They are a good alternative for sure especially from a noise stand point , but if you are looking for a miracle tire to hold the torque in first gear you maybe disappointed.. just my 2 cents ..:biggrin

At 28 PSI they grip a lot better.

I started out at 30 psi Originally and after reading through some of the posts I did lower them and they do seem to grip a little better.. Don't get me wrong I like the tires. But they are not a cure all for ultimate grip in first gear. I do not do burn outs but I will do full throttle bursts in first gear and they will break loose fairly easily.. I just wanted to share my experience with the tires.

I think if you look at the tire's contact patch you will see what I'm talking about. Maybe a suspension adjustment is required to make full use of the width??

Stormcat, is the GT stock, or pulley/tune, Whipple, TT? Also how much of the tread is on the ground? Any chance of snapping a picture of the contact patch?

Gentlemen, after a long search of tires available for our girls I have come to the opinion that short of special order racing tires there does not exist a tire that will meet the adhesion criteria that we seek. It seems that north of 500HP the ability for tires to have decent street life and adhesion is a difficult balance for a tire company to meet.

I am not sure if the Dunlop that Stillen was working on has become available but from the others that are on the market which all have seen time on one of my cars. As much as I hate to say this since I have such a love/hate relationship with them is ...... The Goodyear F1 Supercar. :bored

just my humble opinion ....

Hey Mr. Ice, I'm just pulleyed and tuned.. You Whipple guys will spin these like a top.. :biggrin I think we need to get Goodyear to make some F1's with the new compound they are using on the Shelby KR.

I know guys like Torrie have put tons of street miles on Hoosiers so I think that's my next try after I wear out the Scudy's..

I'll try to get some photos but I think if you look at the photos in this post that are near the front you can see the dirt/ dust build up on the contact patch.. ( see post # 19 here, the last photo, look at the dust track on the tire ) You'll see it is well in from the edge of the tire. This may be due to the design of the shoulder of the tire. After a closer look at the Goodyear and they seem to be a little more square at the sides of the tread ??

Just hit 24k yesterday. I have a full set of new Hoosiers about to go on which will be set 4. Was changing out the plugs last night and can see cords on one side :biggrin

I noticed that tire rack has a closeout special in the rear A6 tires, only $90! Only 5 left in stock.

A6's are for auto cross R6's are for track time and what people are running on the street.. A6's would last a about a week on the street...:biggrin

This is what I've found out so far. The SEMA X1 wheels only come in 20" for the rear. On the Whippled X1 I put PS2's. Front 9.5" Wheels with 265/35/19. Rear 12" Wheels with 335/30/20. For the next car I wanted to go a bit wider on the rear.

And I do not drive like a maniac, ask Kirby he can't stand following me. :rofl:rofl

The A6 is what Peakcompletion was running in the Texas Mile. That is proof enough for the grip, however short it is. I think Peak did less than 4 complete runs. I wonder how much thread was left? Notwithstanding wear, the A6 should be better on the street since their idea operating temperature is lower than the R6 (grip sooner, with less warmup) and on the street no one can legally overheat them.

:lol

I was tempted to buy two before I made the post. Great deal, great grip, short thread life. I knew they would be gone soon after I pointed them out.

Look forward to your feedback. They should grip even better than the R6 unless you overheat them.

Hoosier A6

My friend ran the A6s on his Vette for awhile & they held up ok. Over 1000 road miles & one open track!

Ed

The R6s will do more than twice that though. But at that price it's a great deal. Let's see, $600 for 1 Pilot Sport Cup rear or...?

Those tires probably need to be changed :)

I will most likely be running on the R6 tire for the rally.

As far as the A6, she dead hooked ALL the power we had in first, second, third.........

Awesome tires!!!!
