Ed I really like the way your Whipple looks. I keep missing an opportuntiy for a ride though.
So what are the down sides, if any, other than cost?
Weight Comparo obviously offset by power. What is the weight diff?
Carb Approved?
Other mods required, recommended?
Rear tire life:biggrin
Being the celebrity of the Rally video
Is this special tune a sct tune ?
Does your tuner also sell the whipple?
Fess up, there has to be something...trying to find a way out.
$2k for 100
$10k for 200
or save $2k by going all the way now.
The Tune and everything else you can get from Tony at HP Performance. (whipple, mafia, sct, accufab, etc), or Jack at MMP. Both have extensive experience with the Whipple, but Shadowman and Ed love the tune from Tony.
Whipple claims that it has passed the CARB tests and is waiting final approval from CARB. (when, who knows?)
Tire life, depends on your right foot.
Whipple weights 62 lbs bare, I haven't weighed the stock one yet, but have heard that it is 20 lbs lighter.
Other than cost the only downside is that you never have enough HP and the TT setups have even more power at a ever higher csot and more involved installation. Installing a Whipple is not much more work than a pulley change.
I would recommend running only 20% anti-freeze and Water Wetter in both the engine and supercharger's coolant, using a colder plug like a NGK TR7IX and Hoosiers would help a lot with the traction.
