Car count: After tonight's dinner and presentation, at 10:57p I counted 72 GTs in the parking garage
And on another note, to that dude ^ on the right in the pic above,
@07XL0027 (Chris): DBK was the first person I met at this Rally ... and Chris was the 2nd, and right away he said to me, "Is that your silver 05? Are you the guy who posted asking for a ride in a new GT?" Me: "Yes, yeah." Chris: "I'll take you." Me, eyes big: "Really?? Wow! Great!
Wow!" Chris: "Yeah, when do you wanna go?" Me: "Any time! Just say and I'll be there!" Chris: "How bout now?" Me, eyes huge (I try to play cool so maybe didn't quite look as absolutely giddy as I actually felt inside
): "
SURE!!" ... and we hopped in and took off! Chris pulled out of the garage and onto Scottsdale Road ... and
hammered it!!! Woooowwwww!! Accelerated so hard I think it pushed my esophagus back in my neck!
That was a-may-zing!
And he drives another block or two while I'm doing my best to take in all the details of the whole interior and ask questions and listen to Chris, and then he says, "So ... do you wanna drive?"
WHAT?!?!?! Holy WOW YES!! Incredible! I need a wordsmith to help me better describe my overwhelmed mind! So, he pulls over and we switch places, and HOLY-CRAP!THIS-IS-JUST-TOO-MUCH! And while we just did a quick trip back to the garage, mostly because I was pretty nervous (he offered to go farther! I shoulda taken him up on it!
), that drive was just
epic to me.
Thank you so much, Chris. That was awesome and super generous and fantastic, and to a guy you didn't really even know. I'll absolutely never forget it
Also loved texting all my family back home all about it ... and they were thrilled to hear about it too
