If your goal is to exceed 200 MPH then a longer track will accomplish what you want. The standing mile events are a zero-max in 1 mile and more a measure of power (GTs aren't the only ones that do it). There are some airports that have long runways and put on events similar to the standing mile. In your case a rolling start would help but if topping the speedo is your goal you can take whatever distance you want.

Don't do the salt flats. Salt and aluminum in the long term are mortal enemies.

I thought the McGowan/Nardo speed trial also had a time factor in it - it had to run at whatever speed for a period of time thus the oval track.

Good luck. I wanted to do it too but there was nowhere in Colorado.

Still might have to delete bumper as it acts as a parachute.

Something about "buying" a "delete" just whacks me out, but, my birthday is in August buddy.

There’s a big dry lake in SE Oregon, out past Burns. Several speed events have been done there.

Oh, the car went faster (216 If I remember right), but the official run came in at 205.

Wow. Just saw your posts GT@50 & Not Tonight Jim. SkyRex runs the Mojave Mile & that is where you can safely go 200+. I hope he has an event in the future as they are fun. PM him to do an event.

You are probably correct, but that might have been a little long for his autograph, so he rounded up, as we all do. :)

These are the kind of factual posts I hope never get lost. Someone needs to help @Mark McGowan, @sahlman, @thegtguy et al record their knowledge / memories in some kind of format. This is amazing, important info! (y)

A lot of that is captured in the Forum stickies, but it would be good to add new info to them.

The start of my Ford GT desire started back in 2010-2014. I had a customer who had a Midnight blue GT. I met him up in Sun Valley Idaho during the Sun Valley Road Rally, which later became the Sun Valley Tour De Force. Tom, owner of GT, walked over to me after the event and asked if I could make his GT faster than my GT500. We had run up there for years and he was tired of being beat by a mustang. A Pulley and tune, yearly tinkering on dyno and it finally broke 200, Tom drove car 200.7, and I drove 200.4. I always wanted one after that, well, years went by, here I am. BTW, in 21 the 2008 GT500 made a final run, 220.4. Pretty fast at 6800ft.

I've cruised it. I've grocery shopped it. I've showed it. I've tracked it. I want to do a 200mph run and get to a rally. When/where are the next events?

Ditto on running 200+. I've been meaning to put a 3.4 SC on it (that's been sitting on my shelf for several years) and go run somewhere.

Maybe you need to get some money back out of that supercharger just sitting there??
