Ford GT Design Portfolio by Camilo Pardo

Back in 2002, Camilo did a design portfolio for the GT40 that (as I understand it) was sent to selected dealers, etc. I came across one for sale at auction recently, and given the limited production run (17 years ago!) and the fact that they still used the GT40 name, I was pleased to be able to acquire it.

The portfolio contains a covering note and 11 prints (18 x 24 inches in size), each signed and numbered. I took some pictures with an iphone, doing my best to get a decent image without the glare from the lights ruining the pictures.

Apparently I can only attach 5 files, so I will do this in a couple of pieces.

I have 2 of those (one open, and still factory sealed, bought years ago), each set is numbered and a total edition of 500 if I recall.

Funny enough, Camilo came over yesterday and we browsed through this portfolio. He explained each stage, what was asked for in the rendering, and each paintings origin (which I believe both were painted for somebody named Nasser, a ford exec I presume, to replace a painting that had marlboro all over it). It was quite fantastic! He said the first renderings were based on the gt90 concept, lead by his old boss. The car ended up going the direction of recreation, and you can see that transition in the drawings a year or two after the first two drawings. The later renderings were paint examples (yellow, white, and heritage), and the final yellow concept was the result .

I recently found one of these for sale and it arrived yesterday. I must say these are super cool. Its great seeing the evolution of the car through this art. And it is amazing that these were all from 2002 or earlier.

I'm framing the Red Rush picture and putting it in my office.

If you keep your eyes out on Ebay, you can find them for around $300. Looks like one just sold earlier today.
