Not a body panel, but you can get an idea of how it is done.

Thought I would post this as it might be of interest to some members. The pictures are obviously of the Ford GT shell, which apparently this Company designed and built for Ford after being given a clay model from Ford. Apparently they built approximately 600 bodies, but I would not like to guess who has got one of theirs. The guy was quite interesting as he ran through the construction of the shell with me, and gave me a good insight as to how it was manufactured. I tested the water by trying to see if he was prepared to sell me the shell, but was told it was strictly for display purposes only.

Good evening (UK) I work for Stadco and am able to report it’s Shrewsbury plant is relocating.
We are currently cataloguing and documenting assets to realise via online auctions, and i have found this very body shell in their warehouse.
I’ve looked around and am here to seek your expert advice... IF... this body shell was able to be sold, where would be the best place to go? whom would be the best people to speak to to determine if there was any appetite to purchase? What price would it realistically fetch / or should we be looking for.

If anyone. Has any questions regarding the shell, ask away and i’ll do my best to find out.

Many Thanks for the support.

The question is what can be done with it. For example, If it doesn‘t have a VIN its use would be limited. Just out of curiosity, can you post images ?

Well I bet one of the folks here that bought a frame would love to have access to body panels.

Very early clambshell as the vents are only half open in the middle. I have one like it and they also had ram air tubes inside it that went to the air box. The bottom is also cosmetic carbon fiber and it was made by Roush early on. AS far as the hoods go. The first hoods were made in the Detriot area. The supplier could not keep up to the demands of ford. They were chopper gunned into Nickel molds. YES NIckel molds as i have them and they are very cool! I assume cheap resins were used and that's why they imprinted so bad on the out side and that was the other reason ford went to canada to a company up there that had heated molds that were a couple tons a piece and would pop out 30 hoods a day. Their process is a resin transfer process. Made the hoods look much nicer on the bottom side where the fiberglass is shown.

Thanks for that, that’s why i’m here to find out about this shell, i believe this was manufactured in the UK at the Stadco Coventry facility. I shall photograph the shell tomorrow and post.
Is there anything specific anyone would like to know?

It was manufactured in Ohio and shipped over there. There was no tooling out side of us to produce chassis’s.

Perfect. I will send a dumpster to your facility and haul it away for you at no charge. What's the address?
