I got to sit in the same FGT as Joe Biden. That's cool.
Made a quick day trip to Detroit and was at Cobo on Monday. Thanks Ray Day and Ford! Overall, I didn't see any new vehicle intros that interested me. So, I spent most of my time hanging out at the Ford stand and near the 2 best and most significant cars at the show - the red GT and the LeMans winner. The more time I spent around the GT the more I discovered about it. The carbon wheels look great as you can see in the pic - titanium lug nuts and all. Took my turn among the various TV reporters to sit in it. This was very interesting. The interior is simple and all business. The use of carbon is everywhere inside and the car is all business. If you're tall or wide, you are going to have a tight fit inside. I love the detail of how the air flowing through the intercooler heat exchangers exits out of the inside of the tail lamp!
Raj, thanks for allowing me to give you a hug. You're the best and I so appreciate what you and your team have built. Jamal, thanks for taking the time to show me how to adjust the pedals and steering wheel along with putting up with all of my questions.
Of course, as expected, no details were given to me about weight, power, etc. I was told that these details would be answered when "lap times were released"... Hello! Lap times!! When these words were spoken to me I heard them coming from a voice of confidence. This tells me that the new GT has the track performance and lap times that are going to impress us all. At that point I stopped asking questions and figured I would quit while I was ahead. Ok, you heard it here first. Lap record at Laguna Seca? Faster than a P1 or 918 around a road course? Who knows? But I don't think we will have to wait very long to find out. I can't wait. The Ford GT was built to win - as a race car at LeMans and on the street and track as a road car.
Thanks again Ford.
