Just bought an F150, my friend owns a dealership here in SD and told me to check out this 5 video series of Ford Engineers pounding on this thing. 420 ft/lbs out of the box, pretty fun:

What a great engine this is.

6 months ago I bought a new Taurus SHO with this engine. Tuned with the same HP but less torque than the F150, it pulls like a champ.

Simple tuning (ask Torrie!) really bring them alive!

I wish my Raptor would come with that engine!

I am on my second ECO boost F-150, it is a great engine and pulls my trailer as well as any of the diesels I have had in the past. It gets 20 MPG at 70 mph and goes about 700 miles on a tank without the trailer.
My 2013 is by far the best Ford truck I have leased and I have been leasing Ford trucks every year for 21 years. I have a crew cab 4x4 with the off road package and have to be careful starting from a stop light because it will actually light the tires if I give it too much throttle (it is bone stock). It will hammer an LS powered Chevy truck with ease and could be tuned to outrun a raptor with little difficulty.

Kendall had his f150 at Spring Mtn Saturday, pulled his sons car out from Valencia, he also said it was great with race trailer on the climbs and downhill. There are all sorts of trailer settings to dial in and remember specific loads, trailers etc..

They did a great job with it, very happy with mine. Has FX4 off road package and all the digital goodies, Sync and Ford Touch. Love that it reads text messages for you, plays Pandora over Bluetooth audio, good stuff.

F150 Ecoboost class action

I don't think I would ever see this type of problem in my area. From reading the TSBs it seem the intercooler can be too effective under some humid condition. Interesting that the solution in one TSB was to block off some of the heat exchanger.

I'm confident Ford will resolve this soon and if I were to buy new truck an Eco Boost F150 is on the top of my list. I like a highly effective inter-cooler!

Just FYI, the transverse and longitudinal 3.5EB engines are quite different. The transverse engine does not have the same stout bottom end nor does it have TiVCT.

The 3.5EB is an amazing engine. If my 7.3 diesel pickup were destroyed tomorrow, the 3.5EB in an F150 would be its likely replacement. We also had a 3.5EB in my wife's previous Lincoln and the drive train was amazing (even if the dealer was not).

Have a 2.0EB in her current Escape and that little bugger continues to amaze me. I HATE 4 cylinder cars. This one does not have any of the negative traits of a 4 banger and is just as quick as the Lincoln was (Escape is nearly 1000lbs lighter) and get 24mpg in mostly city driving. Nearly twice what her Explorer got and much more powerful. The EB engines are a long way forward.

Have you guys read about the new 1.5L 3 cylinder? There are also many rumors around a 5L EB both for the Shelby and as a 6.8L V10 replacement.

The new 4 cylinder turbo motors are very impressive. The 1.6 liter 4 cylinder in my wife's Mini Cooper make 208bhp (130bhp/liter). I drove it like a fiend to Jackonville and back a couple weeks ago (500 mile round trip) and averaged over 30 mpg. Horsepower is not a problem nowadays. The cars just need to lose weight. With the Ecoboost and new 5.0 motors, I think Ford has the best engines from any manufacturer right now.

I'll go out on a limb and say this is a foregone conclusion. Ford has plenty of room in the valley of the 5.0 to package the components.

Black Ice, This just happened to me 2 weeks ago. Scared the crap out of me and everyone else in the truck.
Pulled out to pass and when along side the Semi she went into limp mode. By the time I figured it out I was hard on the binders and ducked back in just before getting hit. It was 100% humidity and 40.

I own 5 ecoboost 2010 - 2013, first time anything like this.

I heard there will be no V6 offered in the mustang in 2015 but a v4 twin turbo ecoboost instead. Just something I heard from my neighbor who runs Autospys

Same thing happened to me when I drove my wife's Prius and tried to pass a car. :ack

The CVT transmission downshifts and the motor revs up, the acceleration comes about 1.5 seconds later. Much like turbo lag. It does it all of the time. I learned my lesson, floor it 1st, let the engine "spool" and then pass.

Did you get a recall notice for the issue?

The 2.0 I4 EB is likely to be available. Current 3.7v6 and 5.0v8. The 3.5EB will likely show up in some 'special edition' and the new 5.0EB in the Shelby. The 3.7v6 is on iffy ground but it is cheaper than the 2.0EB so may remain as a base engine to keep cost down.

There is no V4 engine in development. There is a 1.5 I3 but not likely to see duty in the Mustang as its a transverse only design at the moment. The 2.0 longitudinal design is well underway and really has no other north American application than the Mustang.
