Fixing wrecked GT

Door

I think Im missing something. If, as you state, "the damage is not that back (sic.)" and "she just rolled into my car" and "a door isnt needed" ----- why not simply pay the bucks and get the thing fixed. Take the hit. Life ain't fair and most peoples time isnt free or unlimited. Don't not get involved with insurance companies, carfax, "diminished value appraisers" , "the factory" and "shipping back and forth", time lost without the car etc etc etc. Just my opinion fwiw

Don't know if this is any help, But Roush were contracted by Ford to do the Official European conversions here in the UK.

The did all the work on my GT and are a professional company with all the right trained staff and very helpful.

They had panels in the UK factory for accident damage repair, perhaps Roush in the USA may be worth contacting.

Hope you get it sorted. :thumbsup

Will the insurance company pay for diminished value? I have never heard of that being the case.

No, they will not pay for diminished value, but courts recognize it. Just won a judgement last month for $5k for a moron that hit the wife when he feel asleep at the car wash. Safeco wanted me to rent a Ford Focus and only bring it into the body shop when all the parts where there and they were ready to start.
I brought the car in the next day, rented a Dodge Charger for my wife whose CLK was in the shop. They refused to pay, took their insured to court, won, insurance company is now paying up.

Got to love it Bony. It always feels good to win one against the insurance company.

You know, normally I would let it slide, but the way SAFECO treated me, the victim, I wanted to get even. I did I cancelled some other insurance I had with the bums :thumbsdow :bs :thumbsdow

The Saleen factory was showing an optional Gurney bubble door. From what I heard they took your door and modified it. While it is there the other matter can be dealt with.

My car had a paint blemish on the hood. They took the car back into the factory, removed the hood, took it back to the area that paints hoods and repaired it in about 1.5 hrs. The only problem with the the Saleen factory is that it is not in Austin, TX.

The level of service and knowledge there is unmatched.

Here is Gurney Bubble #3 done at Saleen last week at the Rally

Looking for a Driver's side door

Does anyone know where I could find driver's side door? Thanks

You can purchase one from your Ford dealer like I did.

Is there a vin number on the door??QUOTE]

Bony

I believe there are little stickers that go on every body panel indicating the part number and maybe car serial number. Not exactly sure.

Unfortunately unlike the UK Roush does not do customer cars in North America.

IMO I don't think there is any benefit to send it back to the factory as a high quality body shop can handle the whole problem with little fuss. The factory didn't always produce quality paint and alignment in the cars.

Jerry-

Why did you buy another door? Just curious I guess. Do you now have two doors, one with the bubble and one stock?

How true Dave.......I remember someone buying a new FGT and had a stripe misalignment problem, and Ford sent the repair shop a complete front section, with vin no. to match... and I know that the person was very happy with the outcome......Do a little research for a good repair shop.....ask,look and listen before committing the car to them...and please dont worry about car fax....a dent is a dent....not a total loss, and probably would never show up..if it does have pictures ready to prove the extent of damage if minimal as you say...

Sorry for the problem, and good luck to you.........

Gino I guess that guy was lucky and he must have found a good shop to do the repair. Some guys just seem to have more skill at these things than others.

Absolutely correct!

Yes Chris... I have the original OEM door with the VIN# and the new one they would not give me a VIN plate for. I just thought it would be good to keep all of my OEM parts for thisng I change on the car.

If it were my car I would send it to Saleen in Dearborn. Saleen was contracted to actually build the cars for Ford and they will do insurance work. PD
