You can do a search for brake ducts, as there are at least 2 different designs for them that I know of...by both the GT Guy and by Shadowman/Ed Sims.

KJR, the manual is incorrect. It is a misprint. Lug torque should be 98-100. This has been confirmed many times by Fred Goodnough and the GT Guys, etc.

Thanks fjpikul, I thought the Service Manual came out after the Owner's Manual, and therefore, trumped the Owner's Manual on the correct torque rating for lugs.

Just dropped her off at the shop. Getting transaxle cooler installed now + V1 cables & Cooltech Air inlet support.

Brake pads on the way & harnesses + mounts

Got my new GoPro Hero2 so I should have some cool video of Daytona too :)

Trans cooler, race brake pads, harnesses, fire extinguisher installed

No time for the rock chip protector. What kind of tape can I use on the track to prevent chips ?

Thanks

Heli-tape, used on the leading edges of helicopter blades, is an excellent substitute material.

Hubbster: If you are planning on coming thru FT. Lauderdale I will give a roll of static tape which is used by manufactures when cars are delivered .....I use it often in key areas subjected to rocks chips.....

I've used ISC Racers Tape [www.racerstape.com] with decent results. I've used the "Standard Duty" tape, which seems like a cross between duct tape and blue painter's tape. I haven't used the "Extreme Duty," and the "Surface Protection Tape" is something different altogether.
Allstar Performance [http://www.allstarperformance.com/product.htm?prod=77] and DEI [http://www.designengineering.com/category/catalog/dei-cycle/speed-tape-led-lighting/speed-tape] also make similar products. Summit Racing and Jegs are good sources.

I've seen TrakkTape [http://www.trakktape.com/] and Road Wrap [http://www.buyroadwrap.com/] at the track as well. I don't know how well they work, but the drivers seemed content with the results. It's not inconspicuous though; while it's stretchy and seems to have good stick, it looks like you've Saran-wrapped the front of your car.

I think 50% of my GT is clear bra'd. I replace it a few times a year. Tape sucks.

PS A few stone chips will distinguish you from a Road Toad. You are a Track Jack & proud of it!

So its been quite an adventure the last few days. Had a 3:30 hr drive to Daytona, no issues luckily.

Thurs morning I get up to go to track, pull into BK for breakfast and in the parking lot I;m suddenly coasting, I rev it and try different gears. Then I shut her down restart, still in neutral, something is wrong so I call my crewchief & he sends me a mechanic BUT FIRST as I;m pushing the GT a very nice homeless guy helps me push it, then the steering locks cus the key is out. Then I go to put the key in and this AHOLE in a POS Camaro decides he needs to leave right that second and starts moving his car around almost hitting the GT so I yell at him & Mrr Tough guy gets out looking like he wants to fight. Once he realizes I'm not backing down or running away he turns around & gets back in his car, what a doosh. He calls me a rudeass for "putting my car behind his POS" like I decided to break down behind his POS, whatever.

Mechanic shows up & discovers that a bolt that connects half shaft to transaxle backed out & the 2nd one sheared. So I start strategizingwhat to do, text my friends. Friend of a friend is a FORD dealer finds me th parts in Orlando, so mechanic puts the half shaft back in & I limp a few miles to the local FORD dealer, GARY YEOMANS FORD. They love seeing the GT & another friend who came w me knows the owner who tells his crew to do everything to fix GT for me. Their mechanics work til 9:30 PM and call me Fri at 9:30 AM telling me car is ready.

These guys did a fantastic job, I called them & told them how strong the car ran.

I dont have much experience w the GT or Daytona but it was an amazing car/track combination. By end of day I was seeing 180 mph down the back straight, the fastest I have ever been on any track, pulling G's on the banking. The new track wheels from CCW & Hoosiers worked great as well

Will have pics soon, time to snooze now

Wow Hubbster, you had one of the few GTs left that did not have the half shaft bolts replaced.
Never a good time to have them go on you...and particularly in your case! Figures it was a Camaro owner....
Glad you had the opportunity to see what a beast the GT is on the track!
Send those pictures!

The INSTANT you posted:

...99% of the people here immediately KNEW you'd be posting:

...a bolt that connects half shaft to transaxle backed out & the 2nd one sheared.

It's the infamous, years-old "1/2 shaft bolt" failure issue. Somebody obviously didn't replace your car's bolts "back when" as they should have been. (There was a factory authorized "recall" of sorts that authorized their replacement.)

EP didy you ever change your 1/2 shaft bolts, not that it would matter giving the miles?

I sold #1079 just before doing that, Clinton. I asked the buyer if he wanted me to do it before the car was shipped and he said he wanted to do it himself (he owns a 3 or 4 stall auto shop).

Better to have found out in a Parking lot than the track or in heavy traffic.
