So its been quite an adventure the last few days. Had a 3:30 hr drive to Daytona, no issues luckily.
Thurs morning I get up to go to track, pull into BK for breakfast and in the parking lot I;m suddenly coasting, I rev it and try different gears. Then I shut her down restart, still in neutral, something is wrong so I call my crewchief & he sends me a mechanic BUT FIRST as I;m pushing the GT a very nice homeless guy helps me push it, then the steering locks cus the key is out. Then I go to put the key in and this AHOLE in a POS Camaro decides he needs to leave right that second and starts moving his car around almost hitting the GT so I yell at him & Mrr Tough guy gets out looking like he wants to fight. Once he realizes I'm not backing down or running away he turns around & gets back in his car, what a doosh. He calls me a rudeass for "putting my car behind his POS" like I decided to break down behind his POS, whatever.
Mechanic shows up & discovers that a bolt that connects half shaft to transaxle backed out & the 2nd one sheared. So I start strategizingwhat to do, text my friends. Friend of a friend is a FORD dealer finds me th parts in Orlando, so mechanic puts the half shaft back in & I limp a few miles to the local FORD dealer, GARY YEOMANS FORD. They love seeing the GT & another friend who came w me knows the owner who tells his crew to do everything to fix GT for me. Their mechanics work til 9:30 PM and call me Fri at 9:30 AM telling me car is ready.
These guys did a fantastic job, I called them & told them how strong the car ran.
I dont have much experience w the GT or Daytona but it was an amazing car/track combination. By end of day I was seeing 180 mph down the back straight, the fastest I have ever been on any track, pulling G's on the banking. The new track wheels from CCW & Hoosiers worked great as well
Will have pics soon, time to snooze now
