Maybe I should expand my horizon and consider looking for a car with 5000 or less miles. I do enjoy my cars and fully expect to enjoy it in good conditions and put miles on it without reservation of the end value but like everything I have I do good maintenance and treat them very well.
10K will widen your choices. 5K cars are the new garage queens (that expect the low miles premium.)

Gotcha. I am OCD in regards to rock chips etc. and I do not care for the film protectant ….i have been told they have a shelf life of 10 years.

Me too on the OCD thing, but if you actually drive them, you can choose between 1) spend $2-3k on good PPF (paint protection film) and every 10 years redo it, or 2) spend $2-3k every 10 years on a partial repaint of affected panels. Personally, in *most* cases I prefer option 1 because then I feel I can drive it without nearly as much worry, it keeps the paint looking perfect for that entire 10 years, and it's easier to keep clean. Plus you get to keep your original factory paint (if that is important to you.) No wrong approach, just different considerations.

My 2006 (after 19 years) has averaged 215 miles per month...49,000 total miles, they add up!

I agree with your perception. Having owned original paint cars they do hold a premium over cars that have had touchup or repaint. In my book original paint goes a long way, especially with the cars that I have been involved with in the past. I just hope to find one as time permits for an owner. I want to be fair to all parties as I find one.

Yeah that number was a bit low I suppose, but I was referring to just doing critical areas. Leading edges and rockers. I do a lot of my own PPF, so that’s MUCH cheaper, obviously.

I too love the Gen I muscle. If I can make myself sell something, I will be looking for a ‘70 ‘cuda, tho I will be happy with a 440, 4-speed, shaker and either burnt orange metallic or In-Violet.

Great collection!

Those are both good colors. The market on them currently is fair. In my opinion it would be a good time to buy. It seems like the market on those cars goes up and comes down right now is a good middle of the road time to buy.

I am familiar with those cars as well as some of the owners. I am one of four people that put on the supercar reunion in Bowling Green, Kentucky every July.

IMO,
Actually the 05/06 GTs are
are 2nd Generation.
BAT wrongly refers to them as 1st.
As follows,
1st Gen: 1964 to 1969 and continuation cars.
2nd Gen: 05/06.
3rd Gen: 2017 to current.

Lots of great advice here and I don't think you can go wrong with either a low or high mile car as they are pretty much bullet proof. Anything you get will have be to sorted maintenance wise thoroughly anyway.

Best of luck finding a nice keeper.

Thank you for the information. I do agree with them being second generation design. I am OCD when it comes to maintenance and making sure that everything is in good working order. May it be if I’m selling something or buying something? I always make sure it’s well maintained. I feel that I owe that much to the car for sure. I am still looking for that right car. I know they better pedigree cars with good maintenance due cost a little bit more money which I agree with.
