First gauge failure - it was bound to happen?

Car is an 05 with 8400 miles. Fresh battery 600 miles (9 months) ago. Car is ALWAYS on the tender when it sit for more than 5 minutes.

Oil pressure gauge stuck at 3/4 (75?) today. Started and stopped several times with no change.

Looks like the OEM gauge is $700 from Torrie. A few questions:

1) I checked the ground when I replaced the battery. I'll assume its still good. Any other "easy" fixes?
2) Whats the labor effort to replace the gauge(s)? Any write up on this? I have not found one.
3) Whats the cost of a full set of SpeedHut gauges?
4) Anything else to consider?

Thank you!

PM John aka CanadianCobra, he has done replacement gauges 4 or 5 times. Others have as well I am sure. I have a complete set of speedhut and couldn't be happier.

It is the first thing I look at every time I fire it up. I'm pretty sure that over the winter I will just do the Speedhut and set the originals aside so I can get some sleep.

That and a X-pipe sound like good winter projects.

Go ahead and add me to that distribution so I can save those in case I ever have a gauge problem.

To your questions;
1) Double check the ground; also possible faulty oil pressure sensor. Maybe swap that out first, it's cheap and if that's not it, you have a spare. But is sounds classic gauge.
2) Pulling the instrument cluster is easy, there are some good threads with a couple of hot tips. Lots of blue tape and two main connectors to release under the drivers side.... you can pull the whole thing in about 20mins (including 10 mins of blue tape work).
3) Speedhut set about $1300 depending on the options you choose. Most think that's the way to go, since the other gauges will also likely fail soon enough. Keep OEM for when the fix is developed in 2050.
4) Other things to consider; what color Speedhut do you want?

Thanks Wwabbit. I'll have the pans off for an oil change in 2 weeks so I'll try the sensor. Reading a few other posts the ones that go bad fluctuate on the gauge. Mine is stuck, but not at 0.

I need to do a better search on pulling the cluster. Sounds like a good winter project!
