Aston - I think we still own 8% of them. Somebody get on the phone and tell 'em to move over. ;-))

Rex, this is generally true at any track. The more speed you can carry onto the longest straight at a given track leads to the lowest track time (and highest speed at the end of the straight).

Thus the most critical turn on a track is the one leading to the straight away.:biggrin Just ask Andy (or Rocketman)....

Perhaps Bill, but look at a plan view of the track, turn 1 at the exit of the main straight is very tight, then you build speed as you move progressively through the circuit. That last turn is where many make the mistake of late apex, and it puts you onto the main straight in entirely the wrong place to retain speed. I'm sure all these guys know that from practice laps, it was fodder for our readers who may have not had he opportunity to drive the circuit.

In any event, what's with the sunshine at Nurburgring? Totally unnatural for that place. ;-))

GT currently in third, has been given a drive through penalty for a currently undetermined pit stop infringement.

As we all know, flags no longer matter in FIA racing and this flag can be ignored. :rolleyes

Well they are definitely not coming in to serve it, so if they get DQ'd, it will be very, very costly for the season championship. No clue what it's even for.

And they've come in, GT drops to 4th. Interested to hear what this penalty was for.

Penalty was for the driver not doing his belts before the car was on its way out of the pits.

GTs finish P4 and P7. This leaves Mücke and Pla 2 points ahead of Bird and Rigon for the championship lead.

Well sounds like a good race. Can't wait to watch later.

So they lost the podium because of the penalty?

Yeah, they would have been P3 if not for the drive through.

I'd love to hear the opinions from the garage on the podium-robbing penalty.

Olivier Pla said:
The reason why we took a drive throught penalty at the end of the race who cost us P3 is just a joke!!!

Why didn't they just keep driving like the Ferrari did in Le Mans?

Amazed at how well the #67 ran after that pit emergency. I guess that looked much worse than it actually was.

Yeah, I don't think it really did much besides ignite the fuel. Didn't look like it really damaged much.
