"A police disciplinary panel concluded the officers’ actions were justified"

Bull feathers. They wouldn't have paid up w/o a fight if the LEO's actions truely had been "justified".

(One hasta wonder if the ole boy might be a wee bit deaf though since it took so long for him to pull over.)

Let's see, how to you spell CYA?

Exactly!

It only took about 10 seconds from the time he came to a stop before they were nightsticking his window. The guy probably was still fishing around for his driver's license.

Their tactics were horrible.

First off - the cop jumps on the hood. The morons here would have gunned it, throwing the guy about 25 yards.

2nd - the cops finally get the door opened............and the rest of the cops walk away, leaving one cop to pull the guy out. There would have been 4 LA cops yanking the dude out of the car, and throwing him to the ground immediately, all in the same motion.

...you undoubtedly noticed, too, that it appears said LEO never even took a serious look into the vehicle before he began his Rambo routine on the driver's window! He just charged up and started swinging the instant he reached driver's door! He had absolutely no clue what/who/how many might be waiting inside (lying on the back seat, or floor, or in the cargo area). :frown

I submit that, if this old guy had instead been a real serious 'perp', both 'Officer Hood Hopper' and his brother-in-arms 'William the Window Whacker' could have found themselves in some real serious hurt real fast. 'Reeeeeeally bad moves on their part from a tactical/personal safety standpoint IMO.

Good thing these three officers didn't pull this guy over for playing his harmonica - they probably would have shot him dead in the driver's seat (IF they had guns, that is!).

If you actually read the full story, the guy was pulled over, then hits gas and bangs into an officer, then drives off. They follow him for 17 minutes before he pulls over, only after having his tires punctured by a spike strip.

Gotta go with the cops here..
