When I turn my fan switch to the "off " position the fan stays running. It used to shut down the fan and turn off the A/C as well. Has anyone else had this problem?
It maybe a simple switch replacement? Or is there a relay that's not working? I did a search and could not find anything..:shrug

Hi Brian

The situation as shared has been experienced on this end and yes the switch cluster in the center console was the culprit.

Hi Brian -

Mine does the same thing, but only on occasion. By turning the fan switch back on and then off again I am able to get the fan to stop. Sometimes when I turn the fan off I also get a rattling noise.

StormCat, you need to talk to VintageAir. I'm sure you've had yours apart, so you know it's pretty much the one circuit board.

Thanks Bill.. I figured you may have seen this situation before ..:thumbsup

It's still under warranty so I don't need to chase down Vintage air at this point in time.. I'll get the new switch assembly from the dealer.. Thanks guys...:thumbsup

I have a different take on this. Can you adjust the speed of your fan and can you turn on and off the A/C and or adjust the temp? And does the fan actually turn off at all?

Storm I don't think you saw it but Rich and Dennis did...While driving through death valley at the vegas rally I thought I smelled something...I figured it was the stupid AC adapter I was using to charge my phone. Well we pulled off at the little town outside DV and when I stopped I went to turn my air down..and it wouldn't adjust speed. I then shut my car off and guess what??? The fan wouldn't shut off...it ran even with the key out of the car and the alarm on.

Not wanting to be SOL out in that heat and lucky that the whole dang thing didn't go off I hot tailed it for Vegas...and yes I was doing about 90-100 the whole way, that prelude really didn't have a chance of keeping up especially with the ground effects, but he tried.

We actually had to pull the main fuse for the A/C System up in the front end. There is a small controller way up under the dash behind the air bag, and the mechanic that replaced mine said he never wanted to see that problem or my car again after he finally got it in, that had to be replaced. Part was about $500 but luckily it was under warranty.

Just another little glitch to put in the, I wonder what part caused that, pile for everyone information.

i have this exact problem now and simply pulled the blower motor fuse up front to stop the fan from running.

would you know what the part is called? the problem is the car is here in the philippines hence i'll have my mechanic try to figure it out. and it will be easier if i can tell him what to look for since it will be the first time he's worked on a ford gt.

my tech has located the controller under the dash. now the question is whether it is that controller that's broken or the switch board on the center console. he thinks it's the controller under the dash because all the buttons on the center console (vent switch, ac,recirc and temp) all work except the blower is always on even if the car is off and no key.

any opinion from the experts here before i order the part and get it shipped to the philippines. kinda frustrating as i just got the car here and have only driven it 50 miles and now it sidelined. argh!

I wish it were as simple as "heads or tails" meaning an educated guess however your approach is IMO akin to a crap shoot.

If the gal were hooked up to the OEM Ford diagnostic device aka the VCM/IDS the modules can be tested.

Having shared this I have never replaced a module however I have replaced several of the switch assemblies as located under the center console.

All the best

As long as he's in there, why not check the ground connection, you never know.

my car is fixed. had to replace the smaller of the 2 fan control module found under the dash. i got very lucky i guess. when i called the Ford dealer in the Bay Area, the parts guy said there was only 1pc. left of that part in the entire US and he had to get it from a dealer in SoCal. whoosh! otherwise i wouldn't have known when i can get my a/c blower fixed.
