Famous / VIP´s driving GT´s

his car sustained no real damage whatsoever. it needed a tow to get out of the mud though....

the DA where you are must be affecting your memory. There was damage.

Shelby got the last five blue cars off the line as part of his agreement with Ford. They were testing them at Wixom before delivery when we were at Rally I.

I'm being offered what I'm told is one of these cars, given by Carroll to another celebrity not mentioned here. Anybody know the VIN numbers or whereabouts of these cars?

Thats very interesting

Its VIN 6-1554, owned by Mac Davis (singer and actor), a good personal friend of Shelby's, and Carroll signed the dashboard personalizing it to Mac. Trying to figure out if this car is worth what amounts to be a $25k premium.

Opinions welcome.

Opinions being like assholes (everyone has one), a personalized to Mac dashboard would make the car worth less to me, because I'd have to find a way to replace it.

Nice try Xcentric. Everyone knows you have one of these blown up and hanging in the garage.

hehe. I can just hear the questions at C&Cs..."Who's Mac Davis?"..."Are you Mac Davis?"

To be fair, the car might be worth a small premium in Lubbock.

25k premium over what though ?

Shelby Smith has a 2 option blue car with similar mileage for $24k less (asking prices)

It could be Mac Davis the periodontist (Seinfeld)

Anyway, although a pretty good songwriter, he is also known for having his teenage wife snaked away by Glen Campbell . Not sure any of this is worth any sort of premium.

I once had a GT that was a very early one a semi famous collector bought at Barrett. Shelby signed everything but the subwoofer . Really annoying. There might be 10,000 replica Cobras out there signed by CS. About as rare a sig as Richard Petty.

100% agree.

I would not want a personal signature from CS to me on the dash.

Shoot, I just started a thread in the Media section...., I should have posted it here. Maybe our Forum Oracle can move it...;). Just saw Felix Baumgartner, the guy recently broke the sky diving record by exceeding the speed of sound from jumping from the edge of space, with his FGT.

GTED

I considered that car while it was still in Arizona before buying the car I have now.

I could not get past the signature (I did not even know there was more than the big one on the dash).

Were you able to remove them?

I know some will disagree, but, IMHO the car is worth only what any other FGT of the same year, color, mileage and condition is worth. Period. You're buying a car...nothing more.

For me, the fact that some famoso person's sig happens to be on a car (or on anything else 'far as I'm concerned), and/or some other famous person once owned it, adds absolutely zero to its value. And "zero" is a tidy sum under $25K! :cheers

.

I also have an ex-Jon Voight LeBaron

I remember that episode well!

I wonder what non-Ford mods Chip is going to put on the car. :lol
