I couldn't find the thread started yesterday regarding the current F-150 truck pricing, but I had responded promising to visit my dealer today, which I did. The prices were as stated in yesteday's thread, and it looks like I'll be hanging on to my '05 a bit longer as these prices were, in my opinion, taking into account the current economy, out of touch on the high side. The salesman I spent time with walked the yard with me and explained the new improvements on the trucks as the reason for the pricing. Shortly there after, another salesman from the same dealership sent me this:

I was off Tuesday, so I didn’t get this till this morning. The F150 Supercrew lariat is the top of the line in the F150’s. Other than specialty trims like The Harley-Davidson or King Ranch models, the Lariat is “all the way” with only a few options and a Platinum package that adds a group of high end options like rear view camera, power running boards, power tilt steering, 20” wheels, power sliding rear window, heated and cooled seats, and fancier leather trim.
The sticker prices range from right about $45,000 to just over $50,000. Were you just at the store? I thought I saw you leaving in your truck.

So, GT JOEY, there you have it. No better here in Maryland than on THE Island.

As for comparrison shopping, I plan to own nothing other than another F, and have no desire to visit the other manufacturer's stores.

The other thread was removed by Chip. I'll be sure to print out a billboard that says "Why FORD IS STARTING TO SUCK LIKE THE REST", have the guys on the 12th floor sign it, and bring it for auction at Carlisle.

DBK YOUR COMING BABY!!!!!!!:thumbsup Like all else these days reality does'nt mean much. These trucks are priced over the top. Ask how many on the 12th floor have purchsed as many ford/lincoln/gt/jaguar and aston products as some of us here. THEY CANT AFFORD THEM....the basic principle of the ford product has to be redefind.
Anywho im still sticking with the LT as the GTGUYS have a rousch surprise to wake up under the hood:thumbsup TEE HEE:biggrin
Yes the dodge had 90 more horse, still not my speed......but its worth noting just once in a while , hey just because gm and chrysler are down, dont sit back. We are preaching to the chior.. but at 30/40 and 50 percent loses a month a taurus alone wont help. Please read the new hemmings, the editor just wrote a great piece on what the "model A " achieved , we need a new model A......Great piece......
Dont shoot the messenger Petes alright , served in Vietnam you know, anyone who got that deal deserves a deal :thumbsup

. . . GT JOEY, a bit of a stretch, but I love you, man
.

. . . certainly a Veteran of that era, but no actual combat, NAVY you know.

As for the trucks, I suppose if they are selling well, they are priced correctly. If not, the market will force the price one way or the other.

Heck, Carlisle from Detroit can't be more than 6 or 7 hours; less in an FGT.

There are 8 trim levels for the F-150 beginning at $21,565. If you want a loaded F-150 with leather seats and a navigation system and TV's hanging from the roof, I can give you no comparison to what they used to cost because they didn't used to exist. If people can't afford a $25,000 truck with reasonable amenities that is infinitely better than a truck even 10 years old, it's time to get a better job. Massive incentives to move product at low margin are brand damaging.

I've tried explaining a number of times how real and nominal pricing/income levels factor into perceptions on the affordability of cars. The fact is that cars, just like a shitload of other modern conveniences, have not gotten more expensive over the years, but have actually gotten cheaper. But because "number 1" is not visibly smaller than "number 2", people cannot reconcile this information.

We already have sold three new 150's in the first couple days of this month. IN MARYLAND.
They are selling, of course most people are getting in the 32-38k trucks with out TV's and Weather Radar reports. Because of budgets.

The platinum version he spoke of above is the Super high end and replaces Joey's beloved family member the Lincoln Lt and IMO is a much better looking. It also will give you the golf leaderboard, NHL scores, weather radar, traffic guidance.

As Dave said, there are alot. I just counted, 64 different combinations of engines and body type's and then there are the options choices to add. So the price is all over the place from the mid 20's to 50' plus.

You have to remember the F150 is bigger in sales than alot of entire brands in the U.S.

Here is my new driver Platinum Super Crew in Brilliant Silver.

It's a sweet ride.

Ford Truck Lease

Why Ford Is STARTING TO SUCK LIKE THE REST!!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, remember when I told you ,Ford would sell you "your" lease car or truck at the end of the lease at there cost. Well now the tune has changed as my lease is a month away.....My local dealer ,plus all ford contacts are towing the official line that "TRUCKS ARE IN SUCH DEMAND THAT THE USED PRICE HAS ACTUALLY GONE UP"
As all dealerships THAT ARE LEFT, are losing 30/40/50 percent PER MONTH!!!!!!! you think we can do something ? , anything ?

On this one Ford , YOU BLEW IT!!!!!! Sorry......
Im working numbers on a new F-150 with Howie, Larriet, base optins, its 750 a month with 2 grand down

Maybe I missed it? again.... just feel like there no loyalty here. NONE....

Joey,

I am assuming here that your existing lease is with Ford Motor Credit. The terms and conditions governing that lease are presented to all purchasers prior to their making a deal and all customers sign them. The "tune" does not change without the signed consent of both parties. During last year's spike in fuel prices to over four dollars a gallon all manufacturers were losing thousands of dollars on every truck and SUV returned at the end of a lease as residuals greatly exceeded the market value of those vehicles. At that time many customers were able to purchase their own off lease vehicles for substantially less than the residual value. Ford Red Carpet Lease customers were under no obligation to purchase those vehicles for the residual value at the end of the lease. The Ford Motor Company did not verbally browbeat their customers with terms like "THEY SUCK" when they didn't help Ford out by paying over market price for their own off lease vehicles.

Now, gasoline prices have plunged and the market has turned around. Ford has had to add an additional shift at their F-150 plant to keep up with demand and resale prices have rebounded smartly. Ford continues to be the most successful light truck manufacturer in the United States. They, like all other manufacturers, take a big financial risk on resale values when they lease vehicles. Chrysler credit stopped all leasing months ago and GMAC has significantly curtailed their lease programs.

When resale values are low leasing companies lose a ton at lease termination. When resale values are high they come out on the plus side. Vehicle manufacturers do not set used car prices, you and I (the marketplace) do.

You signed a lease agreement with no end of lease guaranteed purchase option price. Manufacturers attempt to accurately predict resale values at lease termination and if they're on the mark they are happy to sell those vehicles for the residual amounts. But manufacturers do not control the used car market.

The Ford Motor Company has lived up to the terms of the lease agreement you signed with them. That same company has been very supportive of the Ford GT Forum and Ford GT owners. Ford is doing a heroic job staying out of the clutches of Uncle Sam, they are gaining market share, and they are the only remaining privately owned American automobile manufacturer. As long as I'm a moderator of this forum any thread that begins with a derogatory broadside against the Ford Motor Company will be stricken immediately. My next new vehicle will be a King Ranch Edition Ford Expedition to replace the one that my 16-year-old son Charley just wiped out in the process of destroying a $26,000 Arizona Public Service electrical switching box! :ack

All the best.

Chip love you man , My defense is 30 years of pink slips, reggies and titles that have the name FORD printed on them, probably more than most.:thumbsup
After the bravo's,and well saids im still buying the LT , we are in a very, very small minority though, a 2006, 40,000 mile amercan 12 mile to the gallon truck doesnt have people banging at the door to pay more than the original lease buy out price.
The numbers bare it out. LOVE THE NEW F-150 ,I can afford a new F-150 BUT alot of americans cant. IM putting a rousch blower, different wheels , I get it, but you have to know whats going on around you, it used to be the BRITISH ARE COMING , THE BRITISH ARE COMING, now its the KOREANS,JAPANESE,BAVARIAN S ARE COMING :lol:lol

Now smile, looks like this thing called the sun just popped out after 10 days of rain:eek ......GTJOEY 1314 / BLAH BLAH BLAH:thumbsup

You're just wrong. The average price of a new car that leaves a dealer lot according to NADA is $28,400. 3 F150 models start below that price. 4 start above. I'm no mathematician, but like I said, if you're not ordering a truck to use as a moving luxury hotel, the F150 is well within reach of the average buyer and, in fact, in many cases cheaper than the average new vehicle sales price.

In a year of astounding gas prices and economic malaise, 515,513 F-series pickups were sold in 2008. That's more than any other vehicle.

I was one of the 515,513 people. Probably in the last 100. Bought a 08 Lariat on December 31st. List $42,875 - drive off less than $27k. 35% below sticker! Then came the trade in.....

Lariat/ Super Crew, 20", sunroof, park camera and sensor, two tone color, step up bars, tow package, rear slider window, leather, bed liner, damn Sirius radio subscription for $195 - no heated seats, DVD or nav...

I love my truck!

The focus should be on the facts.

The model prices and unit sales as quoted above speak for themselves.

Leave the emotion, opinion and love fest out of the mix....
