There was recently a thread about the GT engines being indestructable which leads me to ask has anyone ever heard of a GT motor being replaced under warranty or otherwise during normal use??

I know early Vipers including my 92 leaked oil and were replaced .

There is a member here that did. Motor did NOT grenade, was just a source of leaks, that were unable to eventually be solved.

I believe there was a fire in one car due to leaky fuel rails. Maybe Craig? He had a nice picture of a hot dog taped to his bumper with blue tape.

Didn't someone in the UK have an engine go into smoke mode and have that engine replaced under warranty?

There was an engine replaced in a car out of Florida for noise issues. the warranty issue engine was delivered back to Romeo for inspection but seemed to have grown a pair of legs in a 3 week time period before it was torn down. we'll never know what the real problem was. I would also be careful using the term "indestructible" as in previous threads.

Having been in the garages of one or two supercar manufacturers, and seen multiple virtually new cars with engines out, I'd say that, comparatively, the lump that we have behind us is indestructible. :)

John from Accufab had a Red GT at his shop back in July 2006 that had power loss issues. I remember it produced 450HP or something like that. If memory serves me correctly, John was telling me the car went in for an engine replacement but that's all I remember. May be John can comment on that specific car.

I had a rocker (tappet) failure on my engine. Part of it fell inside the sump and behaved like a bullet causing a little damage everywhere....

I was in the UK by then. Roush (at the time) opened the engine, found the problem and quoted me what we needed to replace. I called Ford USA (car was bought in the USA and still under warranty) and after a little discussion (different labor rates, different opinion on what needed to be done) they agreed to have Roush do what they thought and they footed 100% of the bill.

Didn't Doc Ed have a piston drop where Shadowman ripped it down?
