Ok, I know this is a bit off topic but since we are discussing speeds of the Ford GT. Has anyone driven one at Bonneville to see how fast it will go ? I wonder how fast Peak's car would go at Bonneville ?

You have GOT to be kidding me. A certain white GT has a current bid of $700K and the reserve is not met????

This is why ebay listings can be such a joke. Does anyone really believe that there is a real 700K bid for this car??? :thumbsdow I wonder if they will throw in the Brooklyn bridge for a few extra $$$? :lol

Don't get too excited, it is all a PR stunt for a hopeful reality show. Record mile speed for about one month, the highest priced Ford GT ever purchased (ha, ha, just kidding).

Anyone buying this car for more than a clean un-molested FGT from Shelby would be more of a fool than those that watch "reality TV."

I hear ya 'Ice. Honestly I could care less how they manipulate the bid, but I did find it funny that nothing involving those guys is on the up and up. Apparently there will never be "enough with the B.S." with those guys. :lol

I want to do a listing for my car and set the reserve at a 1.5 mil then have people bid it up so I can print off the listing page, frame it and tell everyone who will listen that I turned down more than a million $$$ for my car. :willy :rofl:rofl

0 feet per second.

The fastest cars at these events are going 400 feet each second, so being 400 feet away seems pretty close to me.

Paul,

That's true, but the component of that velocity directed tword the crowd is 0 feet per second. It takes a lot of energy to vector a 3000 lb+ car 45 dergees off course. If the area between the runway and taxiway was paved there would be enough traction to make it happen if the car remained upright and was steered in that direction. Several cars that have lost control (including Ray's yellow car at it's first Texas Mile) have scrubbed off speed skidding through the dirt and never come any where near the taxiway 400 feet away.

Again, some gruesome 500+ mph crashes on runways have sent burning aircraft parts down the runway parallel to the spectators without coming anywhere near that crowd. Decades of experience and over 100 very high speed crashes should put most reasonable fears to rest. Without the solid traction of rolling tires on a hard surface, a change of direction of 45 degrees will expend approximately 1/2 of the objects energy for that direction change alone. It's almost impossible on a flat dirt surface to generate enough velocity 90 degrees away from an objects direction of travel to get it 400 feet off course.

Look at video of Bonneville Salt Flat crashes at 400+ mph. The car might travel 2000+ feet after crashing, but I don't think there has ever been wreckage that deviated 400 feet off line.

Even with a gurney bubble it's hard to see how this hillbilly is able to ingress and egress with such an oversized pumpkin. Clearly shill bidding and a violation of Ebay terms of service.

Bidder at $700,000 has 0 (zero) feedback...what a farce! :bs

"Yes, I can. A Ford Fiesta is on our list of cars of cars that need to break 200mph.
