My thought is this is being over thought. There are VERY few issues with these cars, and even fewer with the drive train (not including axle retaining bolts).

thank you. The noise was not from the engine, but rather the sound of vibrations caused by air mixing into the power steering oil pump due to a lack of power steering oil.

Is this the issue where two small bolts that secure the companion flange on the differential side break?

I bought the accufab bolt kit about 10 years ago and have been storing it ever since. I am planning to replace the bolts soon.
