Sorry for not getting back with everyone sooner but with the holiday and such we have been finalizing everything for the pricing and structure for the number of units we feel we might have an interest in. We have received several inquiry's about the Double Din's and we appreciate everyone being patient. We have been working with Kip Ewing the one that started this unique design on the molds, drawings, engineering plans etc and feel we have a pretty good hold of the process from the pictures of the units attached and installed. Here is a little background on the Dins and hopefully it answers some of your questions that we have received.
The aluminum armature that gets installed in place of the stock radio structure is made out of 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum and is .250” (1/4”) thick. The side pieces are laser cut and the top bridge section is CNC machined to assure accuracy and strength. It is then assembled in a fixture designed to hold the aluminum pieces allowing for them to be welded to assure a repeatable and perfect fit on every unit. This portion is what keeps the structural integrity of the replacement double din unit that you install which will replace the stock cast piece. We are only offering two versions of the double din units for install. The first being the fiberglass version that is paint matched to the factory interior silver and the second version is 2x2 twill Carbon fiber one. Both of these pieces will use the same 6061-T6 armature the only difference will be the material used to make the housing itself. We will be offering the painted version for $2,650.00 and the carbon version for $3,000.00. We realize the pricing is a little bit more than when Kip used to produce them but with the limited run of units we will be doing as well as the cost incurred to obtain the plans/drawings/cad files/rights to sell the parts from Kip we have done the best job we can while allowing M2K to make a little off them.
Now we know many folks were interested in hearing the pricing etc so we wanted to get back with everyone on that as soon as possible but if you are still interested we ask that you please email either mark@m2kmotorsports.com or kevin@m2kmotorsports.com with your name, address and contact information and we will put a list together of those that are for sure wanting one and which version you are wanting and would be willing to give maybe some sort of deposit when we start the production run. We will contact you for the deposit once we get the full list of folks on board and go into production and at that time will be able to give some delivery dates as well.
If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact the shop at 281-346-8114 and ask for Kevin Kesterson or don't hesitate to email any questions as well.
Thanks,
