I took off the cover in passenger footwell and saw this. Looks like shredded tissue paper.

This normal?

No this is not normal. Anything else in there like rodent turds? Serious question really.

Great question. No turds or anything else weird. I removed the paper towel.

Thanks for your response.

I would be freaking out if I saw that with all the electronics/wires in the area. Sure looks like mama mouse made a home. If not a rodent, do you have any "friends" who like playing practical jokes??

Not normal. Looks like rodent nest. Right under the sjb cover with all the wiring.

I'm telling ya, if you kept a rat snake in your car you would not be having rodent nests, chewed trunk bins.

So what part of the country has this happening to FGT's?

Mice and rats love to chew on insulation around wire!

I searched the car for more evidence of nests, turds, food, hair, etc... I did not find anything.

My garage is spotless. I sweep daily and mop the floor once every two weeks (drives my wife crazy). No food storage or dirt. Everything put away in storage cabinets.

Having said that, I went to local big box hardware store and bought a few mouse and rat traps along with some sprays to keep away anything.

Thank you for you input and advice.

Just north of Dallas.

WOW, amazing. Yet scary!

Peanut butter on the mouse trap. If they are there, they will come.

In Germany the pine martens love to chew on wires. My Miata was immobilized when a marten ate the spark plug wires. These anti-marten sticks are supposed to be effective against rodents too. I used them in Germany after my marten event and never had another chewing. Could be coincidence.

I drive my GT every few days and still had an intruder... I keep sticky traps along the base boards for good measure. I’ve caught everything from spiders to crawfish to a snake in what I thought was an otherwise clean, tight, climate controlled garage. You just never know what’s lurking!

And don’t leave snacks in your car like my brother. Bears love that.

I've had luck with leaving dryer sheets in the car for long storage periods. Never had a problem since.

If that was my car. I would have blamed my wife for hiding her used Kleenex! She knows how I dislike trash in my cars!

Some manufactures used soy in the wiring insulation. It has been a few years but it attracted rodents.

I would hate to think what a pine-marten could do to the inside of a car- those things have amazing teeth and jaws
