Thanks for reposting. I really enjoyed the read, well written by one who has "been there."

Whether you were a big Nico fan or not, after all this, you have to admire him! And after reading Damon's thoughts on his leaving, I get it!
On a side note, several years ago I got the chance to take several laps driving Damon's '98 Arrows F1 car. I'm not sure if I soiled my shorts climbing in the car and getting cinched down, or half way through the 5th lap! It's something I'll never forget.

I feel responsible for Nico's loss at Montreal. I wished him luck after he finished breakfast and Lewis beat him.

I liked the article a lot...from someone who has been there, not an armchair quarterback.

Will be interesting to watch the dynamics between Lewis and Valteri this season. As Damon rightly comments, Hamilton is ruthless, although he seemed to have matured a little in 2016, but Bottas comes across pretty damn cocky. It might be an epic clash of egos, especially if Bottas can match or better some lap times.

Fireworks would have been Hamilton/Verstappen

I think Nico quit because he knew he wasn't going to beat Hamilton again. With similar reliability, Nico isn't as good as Lewis. Nico tried a couple of times to stick up for himself on the track, but Lewis "owns" him mentally.

I don't like Lewis as a personality, but he is a good driver.

None of these guys will ever say this in public, but what I saw on the track, tells it to me.

Maybe when they write their autobiographies we'll know the real story...
