Kevin, I’m anxious to hear what you think about your Avons- as I told you when we spoke, that really seems to be the way to go. My 20 year old BFGs gotta go!!
Clint, I replaced my Cobra BFGs with 15" Mickey Thompson ET Streets. They are a much superior tire to the previous 2 sets of BFGs I used. My BFGs would never hold a balance so I was constantly taking them to the tire store for rebalancing. Absolutely no problem with the Mickeys in the last 3 years.

I have heard good things about these and they are 1/3 the price of Avon’s.Clint, I replaced my Cobra BFGs with 15" Mickey Thompson ET Streets. Mine say Cooper/Avon on the packaging.I am anxious to hear how the Avons transform the ride.
On a related note, I pray Avon survives Goodyear's take-over of Cooper.

I replaced my tires on my Superformance Cobra a couple years ago with the Mickey Thompson tires and they have been great. Can't believe how reasonable they are too.Clint, I replaced my Cobra BFGs with 15" Mickey Thompson ET Streets. They are a much superior tire to the previous 2 sets of BFGs I used. I found out about the MTs after I bought the Avon’s. It would have been a hard sell on the Avon’s otherwise.I replaced my tires on my Superformance Cobra a couple years ago with the Mickey Thompson tires and they have been great. Can't believe how reasonable they are too.
Looking at the Summit web page, they also have ET Street S/S. They seem to have a little street pattern that may help if out in a sudden downpour. The S/R's look to be more like Hoosiers, great for the dry? Maybe not so for the wet. No experience with either. Currently have Avons.so the Avons have gone up in price I would have liked the Avons but got the mIckeys also. I got the SRs which have a hot rod pattern to them Not crazy about the pattern would prefer the Avons but they perform very well.
Nick Acton at Acton Custom Enterprises (ACE)What dealer did you get the Avon’s from?
ya I saw the S/S too not really crazy about the pattern on those and the sizing was slightly different and I obsessed over the exact height of the tire I wanted to get the look right... plus I think they look pretty much like the BF goodrich tires and I already have a set of those mounted on second set of wheels. When I want the race look I put the S/Rs on and when I want a more muted look go with the Bfs...Looking at the Summit web page, they also have ET Street S/S.
