Has there ever been a leak of clutch oil from the transmission bell housing .
when oil leaks like this, can I buy just the oil seal part?
If anyone knows how to obtain the parts, I would appreciate it if you could let me know.
Best regards
Hachi
ps,
I would like to attach a photo, but I don't know how to do it in this post. I would appreciate it if someone could help me.

OK, with nothing shown below your avatar such as "Mark II Lifetime" it looks like you may not have signed up for one of the membership account upgrades (https://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/account/upgrades) and if true that may the issue, but @dbk should be able to help.

In other words, I think you can be a forum member for free if you're a GT owner or are convincingly shopping for one, but without upgrading I think you'll be missing some capabilities such as posting pix, and maybe listing items for sale.

Some early GT's leaked out the rear main engine seal. Could a slave leak, yes, but never heard of it. I'd flush the heck out of it and maybe you get lucky and it stops leaking, long shot though. I tried getting seals for a clutch master cylinder from the manufacturer but they couldn't help. I didn't have the time to find another source so just bought the master.

Hachi san: The "clutch oil" actually is brake fluid, not oil. If it leaks, you can identify it by smell and taste. Check the clutch reservoir to see if the level has gone down.

If you are looking for maintenance to do while you have the car, flush the brake and clutch fluid, if they have not been done recently. Japan has a hot humid environment in the summer, therefore you should do this every two years.

If the clutch slave cylinder is leaking, I have had good success in other cars repairing slave cylinders and brake cylinders and calipers by simply disassembling, cleaning, and polishing the insides of the parts with sandpaper; then reassembling using the original seals.

Does the car have a transmission cooler? Back in the old days there was an overflow of transmission fluid and simple fix was to put a small breather tube on it. No one has talked about this for many years.

Thank you for the post. Indeed, it's not clutch oil, but fluid. In my generation in Japan, we referred to fluid as brake oil or clutch oil. Young people these days might just call it fluid.
The Ford GT, which may have a leaking clutch fluid, had its engine and transmission removed from the car in 2008, 17 years ago. At that time, there was a lot of oil attached to the transmission bell housing. There was also an oil leak from the front side of the engine. At that time, there was a possibility of an oil leak from the crank seal. For two years until 2010, a one-off roll bar was made for that car, during which the engine was sent from Japan to Roush in the U.S. for oil seal repairs at the direction of the Ford GT owner.

This car does not have a transmission oil cooler. Your post is very helpful. Thank you.

Could be a leak from the rear main engine seal.

There's only two possibilities.

First, the hydraulically activated clutch throw-out bearing resides in the bell housing. That could be leaking, although I've NEVER seen it happen. In this case, the fluid would be brake fluid with a distinctive smell.

Second, it could be the rear main seal. In this case, the fluid is engine oil. Early on in the GT program several crankshafts were manufactured incorrectly and this flaw was known to cause a rear main seal leak. Ford believed that this engines would have gone into ~ the first 300 or so 2005 Ford GT's. So, if your GT is a 2005 with the last digits of the VIN <300, then you may have one of these engines. The Ford recommended fix is to install a speedi-sleeve. You can do a search on this forum to find more information.

There's only two possibilities.

I went to the garage yesterday and checked the FORD GT again. The liquid that had seeped into the transmission bell housing looked like engine oil. The VIN number is lower than 300, so I think the engine oil is leaking from the rear main seal leak, as you said.
I will look into this forum about the speedi-sleeve. Thank you for the information that is very important to me. I am very grateful to you.
Best regards,
Hachi

Im sure you have done this but be sure that the oil is indeed on the inside of the bell housing. If you have a leak else where, this it the low point of the engine / transaxle, and the oil can drip down surfaces and wind up at the low point.

If you not familiar with a Speedi / Redi sleeve here is what one looks like. Note this is NOT the correct one. It is installed by heating it up in hot water, and sliding it over the crank at the seal surface. The cup is the installation tool. One trick that worked for me is putting a little bit of loctite between the crank and the speedi sleeve for extra sealing. I've done this to one 5.0 Mustang, and I have another one that I need to get to.

One would think this would have been done already when it went to Roush as this was known issue in 2008.

Thank you for the message. I didn't know that speedi sleeves were being sold. Thank you for the valuable information.
Following the owner's instructions, I sent the engine to Roush to address the oil leak. I believe it was around 2009.
I sent the engine to Roush with the clutch attached. Since the engine was returned from Roush with the clutch still attached, I didn't check if the speedi sleeve was installed. I think Roush probably installed the speedi sleeve.
I didn't know how the oil leak was addressed until I saw nota4re's post. The oil leak is less than before I had Roush address it, but there is still a slight leak. I plan to check the inside of the bell housing with an endoscope through the hole in the transmission bell housing soon. Looking back, I wonder if it would have been better to send the speedi sleeve to Japan and have it installed there instead of sending the engine to the USA.
Best regards
Hachi

See if Ford makes a rear main set that includes the sleeve, if you go that route. The sleeve makes it better than new, SS is better than just steel, but it does stretch a normal seal out further than intended which I've seen cause problems. I install a lot of seal kits that come with the sleeve and I'm guessing the seal has been designed for it.

Be sure to check if a sleeve is already installed, before trying to insert a new one. Maybe you only need a new seal.
I don't know if you can remove a speedi-sleeve on the crank in the engine.

Hello, Mr. HighHP
I plan to check with an endoscope whether this leaking FGT already has an SS installed. I'm worried that I might not be able to confirm it because the resolution of the endoscope I have is low.

Hello, Mr. GT@50
Thank you for the advice. If there is an oil leak while the SS is already installed, which parts should I buy from the USA? I will consult with you.

Best regards,
Hachi

It is highly unlikely that a SS is installed and an oil leak still remains. Possible? Yes. Likely? No.

I'll get a Ford part # on Monday if nobody else chimes in.
