In a normal car with a drain pan I check it cold or after the oil has settled. When is the recommended time to check the GT oil with the dry sump? Cold? After a drive? How soon after? Thanks!

1 min after shut downl thats from Owners Manual.

Has anyone experienced oil burn or consumption.

I have not checked the level regulary and was relying on oil pressure guage and tell-tale red light 'check gage' which the manual says will light when low oil.

Do other folks actually see level drop on dip stick with use? # qt./ # miles?

I think that the manual says within a minute nevertheless she needs to be at operating temperature and then you can safely check it by the time you get to the dipstick after turning her off.

Ok, here's a tip and a gotcha. When checking it look at BOTH sides of the dipstick. There's at least one car out there that wipes oil from something in the tank onto the stick as you pull it out. It always looks full!

One car ended up with very little oil in it, but no damage luckily.

And if you've got one of the trick billet dipstick handles, make sure you grab it with a rag. That sucker gets HOT!

Yes they are beautiful however if grabbed from the pointed end of the dip stick they could be used as a branding iron.

Yes they are HOT, but as was explained to me by WiseAssCat, better for heat dissipation.
