Check engine light

Took 05 out yesterday and check engine light was on but went out after a couple minutes. After driving it came on again so took it to the shop and checked the codes. Should no faults and no old faults. Once unplugged light was off again. Seems to be intermittent and no issues with way car runs. Can the light be bad or any other ideas?

Are you certain it is the “check engine” light, and not the “check gauges” light? When this light comes on, are all of the gauges operating correctly? Is your battery starting to get old or rundown? Fuel level very low? Ground strap good and tight? Just a few thoughts...

If indeed a YELLOW Check engine light, the ONLY scenario where we have seen the light self-clear is when it is due to a very low battery condition. Battery tenders are absolutely great but one downside is that they really help to mask a failing battery - especially if you have one or two cells going out. Let the car sit for a few hours after driving and disconnected from the tender. Battery voltage should be 12.4-12.6v. If your battery voltage is 12.0 or less, it's time for a new battery.

Battery showed 12.8V turned off 12.28 switch on. check engine light on after starting. Will check the ground

Had another guy pull code shoes high oil pressure gauge. Gauge is showing between 30 and 75 psi.

Gary, Usually that type of code would say High circuit. Meaning high resistance. What was the five digit code? P????.. The P stands for powertrain fault.
