Was the metal surround tough to fit?
 
I made a cardboard template first (see photo earlier in this thread) before having it duplicated in sheet metal by a heat duct shop (they work cheap). Any errors are easily accommodated by oversized mounting holes (hidden by oversized black washers) that allow adjustment. I also used black duct tape behind the bulkhead cover (I'm not going to call it a console anymore) to camouflage any visible bulkhead. I was at a gas station today and people were enjoying the engine looking through the windshield!
