This is not a correct statement. The Radio console plays a roll in the structure, but the center tunnel does not.

Has anyone thought of polishing the magnesium? I've done it on some of my motorcycles & the mag stays shiny with no problems after years of abuse in the dirt. mud & water.

i just bought a GT that has this but even much much worse. Seller thought it was normal and it looks like it was rhino lined!

I am having it replaced with a spare from one of my carbon consoles... I know Shelby has painted a few that look really good.
