Famous Ford GT owner spotted in San Diego.

Gentlemen,

Yesterday I was in San Diego attending a two-day Chevron dealer's conference and after dinner on Friday night they announced some special entertainment. Jay Leno walked out and put on an amazing one hour performance without a single cue card or teleprompter. It was his first paid performance after his final Tonight's Show appearance. I don't know if it's true or not, but he told us he used Chevron gasoline exclusively in his 100 plus car collection. :thumbsup

This isn't exactly a "celebrity sighting" story, but it may bring you chuckles anyway.

My daily driver is a Smart car (yeah, I know - I can hear the boos and hissing already), but I'm driving on a local street in Phoenix when a blue/white GT passes me. I catch up to it at the light and motion for the guy to roll down his window. This is a man I've never seen before (not one of our regular GT groupies here). I tell him I've got one just like it - in Heritage colors. He looks over at me - in my smart car - and says "you're telling me your other car is a Ford GT?". :bored

I think I need a bumper sticker: "my other car is a Ford GT".

That's funny! And I can totally see that happening.

Moose...I don't have two FGT's like you and others on the forum. But have that '67 Eleanor/Restomod...I've contemplated getting matching license plate frames that say...

"My other car is a badass Ford"

did you get his email or phone, we can use him on our next rally as an invite. Refer him to Buerge Ford or Galpin. I saw him once on the golf course at Toluca Lake, as you said a nice guy.

I played with him once here at Shady Oaks in Fort Worth. He was here doing a Will Rogers one-man show and played our course with one of the local members. Nice guy.

What a classic, great layout. Played it years back, and saw Mr. Hogan hitting
practice balls out on the course, and then sitting in his regular spot. A lot
of history came out of Shady Oaks. Wasn't that where Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan caddied, and Byron beat Ben in the caddy tournament one year?

Sorry for the hijack, but just brought back memories.

That is funny.

I actually had just such a sticker ("My other car is a Ford GT") on my Land Rover LR3, my daily driver to construction sites and real estate projects. At my storage development, a couple workers were looking at the back of my car and kept laughing, so I suspected it was related to the bumper sticker, and asked, what's up?

One of the guys said, "that Land Rover is my dream car, why would you possibly want to drive a Ford Mustang instead?" I said, well, I've owned and enjoyed mustangs, but the Ford GT is actually a limited production sports car, and then someone grabbed a laptop and showed them a picture.

Then they understood.

I used to have "My Other Car Is A Datsun" on the back of my Porsche, until no one knew what a Datsun was.

I had a 1967 Datsun 2000 Roadster in HS. The 67's were great, fast lil cars. They had a lower windshield than the 68 2000 and a nicer looking dash. It was a 5spd with headers, rollbar, XKE Jag seats, Chev Nova 4 bolt 14" chrome reverse wheels and painted 66 Cadillac firemist red. It was way cool at the time. Had a 67 442 prior to it. After it I had a 240Z, then a 68 427 Vette. Realized I could make money on cars and have fun at the same time. Bought a crapload of Mustangs and VW beetles...they sold well, but I honestly never cared for Mustangs or VWs. Coolest Mustang was a 68 black fastback with a 390 4spd and gold C stripe on the side.

Dodge Dart. Extra rust. Hold the oil.

And through a process similar to petrification, all seating surfaces were slowly replaced by duct tape.

I new someone would catch that! It had the little bee on it side and hockey equipement in the back set that would gage a maggot! But I drove that thing until a postal truck back into it at the post office.

Look like a crush coke can when I walk up to it..
