Anyone know where to obtain the small Carroll Shelby signature stickers people are placing in front of the shift on the transission housing? Anyone getting celebrity signatures on their GT's interior? I have heard some people at the Crystal Cove Sat AM car event in Orange County, California have had Dan Gurney sign their car, and bony had a party with Mario Andretti signing interiors also.

Carroll will sign your dash or visor in exchange for a donation to his Childrens Foundation. Do a google for his web site, and you send in the item and a check and they will return it. His prices have gone up in the last few years. I have never seen a sticker and would doubt that he would allow one to be made.

I rented a Hertz GT-350 a couple of weeks ago, and it had a clear decal on the dash that had Shelby's signature. It also had the Hertz GT-350 logo, but you could cut cut out the singnature if you could find the decal.

I rented one last week in San Jose and put almost a thousand miles on it in NorCal. FUN!!! Sounds awesome, looks great. Car had 100 mi on it when I rented it and we got stuck in the bumper to bumper traffic headed to Laguna Seca for the MC GP. 105* outside. No problems whatsoever. Wife thought the ride was stiff but it really gripped the road. Great experience and well worth the rental price.

We where headed for the races, just too damn hot, heard bikers where dropping like flys from the 100 degree heat at the track...
Also, heard it was a wild weekend, the jails were overflowing with zealous partying fools... hate it when I miss a good party :cheers

I was in vegas last weekend. I stoped at Wynn's to see the Ferrari display and found a Hertz rent a car in the hotel. So I asked for availability and price.
They are only at the airport and cost @ $300. a day with a 20-30 min. walk thru on the car before you drive. So I left and decited on the way out that I would rent one so I called Hertz to reserve one and was told You had to fly into the airport to be able to rent one and the price was $169. Big differance in price. So i guess I will do some more research because I want to rent one.

I rented one at Seattle. They didn't have my sub-compact that I reserved and asked if I wanted to upgrade. I told them I take a Shelby for three days if they had one available. They did, it was $240/day unlimited miles. Fun car, and gets almost as much attention as the GT. The stall converter is about an 1800 RPM unit, so it gets off the line pretty good. It sound good doing it as well. I took tit to the Pacific Raceway track for the weekend where I was racing my '66 GT-350. I parked it with four original GT-350's and it got more attention than all the rest of the vintage cars combined. People loved it. And, I must admit, it was the first rental car that I ever washed. I couldn't stand it looking so dusty by the end of the day. When I took it back, they asked how it was and I told them I took it to the track all weeked where I was racing. :biggrin The manager turned pure white. I waited a couple of seconds, and then told him I wasn't racing the Hertz, afterwhich he started breathing again. :lol

At SAAC events, ass-uming Carroll attends he usually does a signing session.
Usually asks $35 an item. Carroll is my hero and an amazing gentleman.

bony,

I know about Shelby and his signatures. He signed my 66 GT350 in two spots. I am referring to the small black signatures that I have seen on several images in the photo gallery but can't bring up. These are small black signatures you seal on the magnesium transmission housing probably with Soap and H20. I will find an image and post.

Re: Hertz GT 350. Cost for the week was $700, unlimited miles. Can only be driven by managers and there is a special checklist, so there is more of a wait. I also had to show my plane tickets.

I just recently returned from a trip into the Raleigh/Durham airport... they had four Hetrz cars in the rental line, but they told me they were not in service yet... at 240.00 per day, I would have probably passed on it anyway... that's too much, particularly when I've got my very own GT sitting over here ready to romp at any given time. :wink

btw... can't think of anybody's signature (other than maybe Camillo's) that I'd want on my GT...

I spent a weekend with a Hertz Shelby. As has been mentioned it takes an extra 20-30 minutes for the check-out. The particular car I rented had 14 miles on it and I was the first renter. I went from Seattle to Portland to watch the CART race at PIR. The Shelby was as much an attraction on the road as my GT. Lots of camera phone photo's.

Once it got going it was just fine. Seemed to have a lot of noise (of the right kind) way before the cam started working. When it started on the cam, it took off real well. I would have prefered something other than the automatic transmission.Like Craig mentioned earlier, it was so dusty at the track I had to wash it everyday. First time I've ever washed a rental. But the car deserved it.

I had to show a utility bill to "prove" that I was a "resident". Apparently airplane tickets prove that the car will be returned in good order. But local rentals are treated differently. Probably with good reason on the Shelby. Particularly so when you have heard the stories of what happen with the GT350 H's way back when.

Did you have the Hertz in the car corral? If so, I think I spoke with you as you were waiting to go out onto the track for a tour.
