I could watch that anytime. Never forget the mission of the GT. Win American style. Especially the mark IV. All American made, driven and managed. No apology tour for America in those days.

Dan said that after practice and trials the car was much faster than the Ferrari's on the top end so they cut the redline of 6500 to 6000 to help make it live for the whole 24hr. This may be the reason for the top speed confusion. He also stated the car ran a little over 220mph at 6000rpm.

I still can't imagine those speeds (200+) on 1967 tires. The absolute guts of the drivers, and to do it hour after hour at LeMans. It had to be physically and mentally exhausting.
 
Not to mention sun glare at Dusk and Dawn....
 
Can you imagine driving such a dominate car that part of your strategy could be to pull over and stop during the race?
