If you are the lien holder of a car and monies are owed to you, what are the steps one would take to repossess the car?

Get a key made....from dealer key number usually need contacts for this. Engage Atty specializing in repo of personal property. Find reputable repo company....never do youself. Establish "storage location". borrower has ten days to retrieve personal property. Handle above board with no emotion.

Check with your local attorney but most states allow self-help repossession as long as you do not "breach the peace". Have a repo man do it. However since you are in Calfornia, you may have to pay for the debtor to go through credit counseling and explain why you have enough money to hold paper on such an expensive car before you get it back :)
