Can not clear CEL Check engine light ?

I'm with Ed (HighHP). For the sake of science, curious minds, posterity, etc. please reinstall the old battery and see if the CEL comes back.

Knowing the work it is to change the battery in a GT I'd guess that's not going to happen.

That makes no sense if both batteries put out the same voltage. Maybe, put the old one back in to see if it really is the battery. 😁

Before removing the ‘old’ battery, disconnected it for hour or so. Reconnected it then still had CEL. Connected new one and it went immediately away. Have since returned my old battery to Autozone for my big $22 core charge. At this point have to assume was old battery

Not sure I'm phrasing this right, but did you apply power to the dash's 12V power port to retain the sensors' settings? Or in Florida are we not concerned about that? Thanks ...
