Thanks for the referral ajgt. I worked with Kenny yesterday, put down a deposit, and should own the GT of my dreams today!!! I was so happy that you and Kenny found this black car configured as this one was. I'll be dropping by the Saleen show today, but I won't have my GT yet.

Thanks Bony. Your avatar inspired me to make my purchase.

Now I just have to figure out whether to transport it cross country, or drive it back the couple thousand miles...

Let me know if anyone has a good transport company recommendation. Almond is booked during the time I would want (this coming week).

As a good Rotarian (Level 6 Bequest, Level 2 Major Donor) who lives by the FOUR WAY TEST, there is no way I could consider doing that... honestly.
Just turned down a ride from a forum member... no can do.

We could always invite Ken and Lorna and of course Gaiy, do you think they might be into GT's?

A forum member mentioned that they received a car cover with their purchase. I asked the dealer and they said they didn't have any car cover. Is that something I should expect with a brand new GT purchase? The dealership seems pretty honest, so maybe they just need to make a call to get the cover - but I wanted to be sure I am asking for something that is meant to come with all GT's. (And I could really use a cover)

Yes it should come with a cover - stowed in the nose cone/hood (whatever that area should be called!). It's in a zip up bag with a Ford GT logo on it.

I would imagine it's available as an accessory, in which case the dealer should supply it at their cost from the margin they've made. It may be the case that your car was shipped without one - either way, you should get it.

There should also be a trickle charge (I didn't get one with mine) and a tyre inflator electric pump thing too.....

There's an owners manual too in a leather case.

BTW, I am still looking for a cross country transport.

Almond is booked or otherwise unavailable till October.

Rich Lacy estimates he wouldn't be able to pick up for 2-3 weeks.

Any other recommendations for national transporters?

PS. Thanks Bony, Neilda, AJGT for the info.

Sorry I have hijacked this thread. But you've all been very helpful. I can't wait to get my car and drive out and meet everyone. I want to get it here soon, but also want to ensure that it is safely and professionally transported.

I assume I should have the dealer leave all plastic and paper coverings for added protection during transport?

Have you tried Reliable. We used Reliable to ship our GTs from Florida to the Detroit rally and back last month.

Florida Chris -

Do you have a phone number or webaddress for Reliable?

Or do you know which city they are based in?

I pulled up a lot of sites with the phrase "reliable auto transport" but not the specific company.

Thanks.

Struck out with Exotic Car Transport - as they don't do the route.

I don't have the contact information. Manny (1418) set it up for us. I'll drop him an email.

FWIW, Ford uses Reliable to ship our GTs from the Wixom plant to the dealer. They are a big outfit.

It is too bad Gary Almond is booked up. He would be my first choice, but Reliable does know how to move GTs.

'morning,
Pick up a copy of Hemmings, everyone in the transport biz has an ad in there.
good luck, I know sometimes it seems near impossible to move a car.
