Chris,
Tom B from the svt board. I recieved my exhaust today, the list price for the muffler is $2700., and my dealer sold it for $2200. Come with nice large chrome tips. I'll try to attach a couple of pictures.

Thanks! I can't wait for your impressions once you install it. Are you doing the install yourself?

I got mine ordered today $2,150 ....They are very "Proud" over there at Borla :skep I hear the headers that are coming are $2500 and the catback system will be $3500...

We are working on a pulley for mine..to give it just a couple more lbs of boost... with the help of a few engineers

just because I know this will come up later.......somebody should weigh the muffler to see if there is a signifigant difference between the borla and stock, same with the headers when they come available.

Borla had their system at SEMA this year. I would expect, or should I say hope to find others there this year. The Borla price is V E R Y expensive, or am I off base?

Where do you purchase the Borla? Direct from Borla or a dealer? The Borla online site says they do not have an exhaust yet

A lot of money for a different sound and little if any performance improvement.

You can purchase the system from Ford Racing Performance Parts. Their website is www.fordracingparts.com. I think the part number is in the parts forum. For now the process of obtaining parts has been cumbersome, but we're working on simplifying it through the forum.

Borla exhaust, what it really does ?

Dear DBK,

I got the Borla installed on mine in Ft.Lauderdale by Maroone Ford (where I got the car). They told me I was one of the first (it was end July then), and moreover, that the thing significantly upped the power. I was told it would be up to 630bhp now. I think that´s bollocks, but how much extra punch does it really give ? Anybody know ? Nevertheless, at least now the car has some sort of sound... ( I am European, so used to more screaming engines made in italy anyhow...)

PS: what about the transaxle intercooler and the short throw shifter, any news on that?

How much louder is the new exhaust? Is it a bolt on unit? How long does it take to install?

takes half a day... you will want it, makes the engine at least hearable, but matbe you will even want to gutt the cat's and install big straight pipes into the Borla. At least, that's what I will do ! :biggrin

The transaxle cooler is a must if you plan to do any type of track events. I will post a pix of installation later this week. Without it the oil temp gets too damn hot.

The short shifter is very nice and will be installed at next service.

As DBK indicated all of these items can be found on the PerformanceFord website. Enter GT in search and all items appear including those for Mustang GT. What is even better since its sold by Ford and installed by your dealer they are covered under the original warranty.

As to the added power from the Borla industry people told me at best it adds 5-10 HP at best depending upon individuql car. Some may not make that much more power.

As to 630 HP that would be an increase of 15% +/-. Doing a smaller pulley, smaller drive belt, and gutted cats produces about 30-35 more rwhp. Typical engine does 550 at the wheels and 475 torque at the wheels.

Hope that helps.

I think, having it (!) it is far from sufficient.... one could think, waste of money.... not recommended for tight budgets, that's for sure,.. :eek

I think the benfits of a smaller pulley may be somewhat negated by the added engine heat.

I have before and after dyno sheets that confirm the increase. Itwas a mere 108 degress when the second (after) dyno pulls were done.
