I HATED Bobby Orr, (and the rest of he $&@£ing Bruins) when I was a kid. It seemed if it wasn't the Canadans keeping my Hawks out of the Cup finals, it was Orr (and Esposito, and Cashman, and Bucyk). But years later, every thing I read about the guy proves he is a real star, a real gentleman. Love the comment by his mom too.
Your making me cry......Only one was better , the flower from Canada, Guy LaFluer....
I loved Bobby Orr...what a pleasure, what a time to watch sports, playing buy rules?
No prison record, no bull rings in his nose, no dragons on his forehead...
Very soothing. Thanks for the memories Rocket man, my generation at least on video still holds up.

Ron. Just saw this. Growing up in Calgary in the 60s and 70s we did not have NHL and I recall cheering wildly for anyone that would beat the Habs who seemed to win every year. Cheered Mr Orr often and was sad when the Bruins were beaten as well. I did not know he was such a humanitarian and quiet good guy. They are the best kind. Thanks for sharing the article. More of our "stars" today could take a lesson from him.
Glad to see some hockey chatter, my wife and I travel around north america for hockey and it's basically our major hobby to do together. I'm up the the GTA quite a bit, if anyone is up near that area would love to meet up!
